Labanc is worth more than a 5th. He was injured for the year.

Don’t see why the Jets trade Samberg. He’s younger.

If this happened my lines would be…

Meier - Hertl - Barabanov
Eklund - Couture - Kunin
Nieto - Bordeleau - Gregor
Lindblom - Strum - Lorentz

Ferraro - Karlsson
Vlasic - Merkley
Samberg - Benning

Kähkönen - Reimer

Jets aren't trading Samberg for that.

Interesting defensive pairings. I suspect it's also arguably the most realistic of what we can expect from the coaching staff to put together with Knyzhov out. I'd say what you have here is most realistic.

I'm really hoping that Merkley comes out in camp and demands a roster spot with improved play and a stronger/bigger body.

don't see any trades unless teams come at us desperate to fill voids until after thanksgiving to he honest
Labanc has upside but his last year was bad even before the injury, i wol dhold onto him try and get his play and value up to par and then try and move him at the deadline.

You might be able to find a taker for Lablanc, but it ain't CHI. You are probably better off holding onto him and seeing if he can stay healthy and raise his value.

I thought about placing Labanc in the second lineup, but I prefer to test Gregor and later Coe, maybe Kunin in this role. Place him in bottom six? I think we have too much good players there. As a variant, we can give Labanc a chance around first 6-8 games to prove his value.

I think it's time for Merkley to show his all ability being in a second pair as a offensive defensman. If he won't make a step forward, Grier will have more desire to trade him with his love of big players.

Jets deal is hot garbage
Samberg is 6 years younger, a proven winner at the college level and just cutting his teeth in pro hockey. Trading him for Simek and a 7th is terrible
