Bedard Price retires

Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 7, 2022
Published: Sep. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not saying Price should retire, just saying that if Montreal is terrible for one more season and Price misses it, he might consider it. Also if it means landing Bedard it is worth it. As a Leafs fan I wouldn't mind them being terrible next year to get Bedard, no questions asked.

Just reminds me of Stuzle from Ottawa. If he gets 60 points I see it happening.

the deals that the young guys are getting are interesting. before contracts were paid on how well you performed even now with guys like gaudreau, miller, M. tkachuck but now a lot of guys are getting paid on potential which i don't like. what happened to bridge deals? 1 good year doesn't define your career you may end up just plateauing as a 60 point guy.

do i think stutzle will set a career high next year? yes i do but do i think that has a big part to do with his 2 new linemates giroux and debrincat oh yes i do. in terms of individual skill stutzle isn't worth 8 mill.

yes stutzle is very fast and a good transitional player but he is god awful defensively, not a good shooter, doesn't average a whole lot of A1's and even on the PP he hasn't been that dangerous. his contract is definitely gonna be based off point production but even that is silly because with how stacked ottawa's top 6 and PP will be, points are gonna come with ease. in my personal opinion stutzle is the 7th best player on that team and should not be the highest paid.

ottawa player ranking
1. Chabot
2. Tkachuk
3. debrincat
4. giroux
5. norris
6. batherson
7. stutzle

chances are too sanderson will become a more important factor then him aswell

Yeah I agree, that's why I've signed Caufield to only a three year deal. Maybe he deserves only 6 mill, maybe even 5.5? Depends on what he does this season (I could see him putting up 30 goals, 50 points). But contracts for young players have been set now by Stutzle I think.

Gms are probably betting on the cap rising significantly making these contracts look cheap in future years
