Jets likely accept that deal. Works out well for both teams in the end. Love DeMelo but he’s likely the one who’s dealt on the backend as he’s worth a decent bit on his deal.

Is he still a good possession player who doesn’t turn the puck over much and compliments a strong offensive Dman? Cuz that’s what he was in Ottawa

That is exactly what he is. He can play anywhere in the lineup, he excels defensively and is a great complimentary partner to an offensive dman. It’s a shame he never got a real chance to play with Heinola. Maybe this year!

Even still your giving up 2 2nds, Brannstrom, and Hamonic for Demelo and moving Zaistev's contract. Help me here, I don't see this as a plus for the Sens. Demelo while a good player and I liked him here a lot is now 30 at the end of this season, so he likely aged out of the window for the Sens. this is a short term fix that doesn't help solidify the D core for during there real window.

I would rather have Branstromm still and keep the picks.

Hoping this is the case as well! Barring a Dillon trade, I'd run the D lines like:

    Morrissey - Schmidt

    Dillon - Pionk

    Heinola - DeMelo

Even with Dillon moved, Samberg jumps into that spot and I like it. I’d actually prefer that to be honest. Need to get the young guys playing. Gawanke/kovacevic are either PB guys or traded as they’re not waivers exempt.

Oh I would much prefer Dillon be traded with Samberg jumping into that spot...just not confident on that happening frown If he was traded, that would open up a roster spot for either Kovacevic or Gawanke as well.

There’s going to be a team who suffers an injury or needs to fill a hole when training camp starts.

Not that I am wishing anyone get injured...I sort of hope that's the case and they can move Dillon. My ideal scenario is the Jets keep 8 D on the roster as follows:

    Morrissey - Schmidt

    Samberg - Pionk

    Heinola - DeMelo

    Extras: Stanley, Kovacevic

Gawanke would most likely get claimed unfortunately if he's not traded.

I personally prefer Gawanke>Kovacevic but Chipman has a stiffy for Kovacevic so that probably doesn’t happen.

That lineup is my ideal scenario as well.

Hahaha, I like both but Kovacevic has the inside track for sure so I went with him tears of joy

Idk who Maxence Guenette is but I'd trade DeMelo for that.

I see your point if you are not considering the pipeline. This is a good 1-3 year solution. By that time the Sens will have other prospects that are hopefully ready to make the jump to the NHL.
They never should have traded Demelo a couple years ago. I never understood that trade.

Damn, that'd be very Pierre like to pay that much for DeMelo a little while after dumping him when we needed him

Watch him trade Ridly Greig to get Anthony Duclair tears of joy
