It’s hard to say who adds, cause it’s really circumstantial, Whether or not Slafkovsky show’s that promise that made tge Habs pick him & whether or not Meier wants to resign.

On another note, WTF is that Cap Space

Trade would happen on the following offseason but if I pick the 2023-24 year it won't let me trade 2023 picks. Montreal has 27.5 millions in cap space heading into next season with only Caufield and a couple B tier guys to sign.

What is known about Meier on your end now?

depends if the pick is 2 or 3, if its 4 or 5 i could see it, but u dont wanna pass on fantilli or michkov at 2 or 3. even 4 i think habs are picking dvorsky. if its outside the top 5 habs prob add a sweetener.

If it’s a top 5 pick I would think the sharks would do it. Hell, Dach got the 13th overall and he isn’t even good.

If Meier goes back to back ppg seasons with around 35 goals he'll be considered an elite winger in my book but will likely be overlooked by most because he plays in San Jose.

With Drouin, Dadonov, Byron and likely Hoffman and Monahan out this upcoming offseason we won't be in the same position next year. Also I'd say we're more in need of an elite 1RD than an elite goalie in today's situation.

Just going off another young sniper traded at the draft with Alex Debrincat. Meier isnt as good as Debrincat. His stats don't come close.
He's a good glue player, sure, but he's been inconsistent in the last 5 years and he'll be two years older than Debrincat at the time of trade. This draft is also much better. 2-5 is a no go unless its for a top young RHD.

Don't get me wrong, I love Meier but the top 5 is way to stack and we would get an Elite Player at 18 on a ELC

Yes Debrincat is better but that trade isn't a very good comp since Chi fleeced themselves and Meier didn't have P. Kane shipping him pucks

he did have Hertl taking a lot of pressure off him though. but Debrincat doesn't have Meier's size or physical presence and GM's love bigger power forwards over finesse guys.
plus Chicago literally gave Debrincat away and could have gotten WAY more if they were patient and not trying to dump guys fast and furious like they did at the draft.

If you want to use an outrageous comp to say it’s an overpayment, how about we use an outrageous comp to say it’s an underpayment. Matthew Tkachuk. Prior to his 100 point year this season his season high point total was 77 points and had 3 seasons of point totals in the 40s. He went for a haul. We can all pick and choose poor comps here.

yeah the physical presence difference is another distinction for sure
Hertl is awesome but he is not elite like Patrick Kane. Closest thing we had to a P Kane was Thornton
