First off if you are gonig to resign the Debrincat, you go the distance in terms of length; the max 8 year deal (I would give him 8 years and like $8.25m AAV). Also giving up WAY TOO MUCH in the Chychrun, better off not making that trade or if you do, give up less since Zaitsev will only have 1 year left on the deal.

If we need to get a top 4D, there are cheaper option than getting Chychrun.

First of all, DeBrincat is not signing max term.. let’s be honest here. Matthews didn’t take max term in Toronto, neither will Cat. Zaitsev needs to come off the books and AZ has been clear in what their ask is if he’s included, even if in this scenario there is one year left. Term on Chychrun deal is important too, and he fits perfectly in his prime with the prime of the Sens core. I would prefer “over-paying” for him, than over-paying for an older UFA who might be on the back 9 of his prime.
