As a Pens fan I'd make that trade in a HEARTBEAT. Sadly, Hexy wanted him bad enough to sign him when we didn't need him lol

Edmonton have Puljujarvi, Yamamoto and Ryan at RW and a few prospects to try out there, so it's hard to imagine why they would want a bottom-6 RW who only saves them $1.1 million for the next two seasons against the cap (and costs them $11.6 million in real money on a $10.2 million hit).

It's not about how good or bad he will be. He was simply not necessary. Ruhwedel is a rockstar back there for $800K. The Pens need an upgrade to their bottom six and Foegele brings that upgrade along with elements this team has been missing.

It bolsters that 4th line, he can move up if Yamo or Puljujarvi are struggling (which we seen last year) he had a solid World Championship, I think some change in scenery can do him some good

Any deal adding caphit to MTL doesnt makes sense.

MTL has no capspace until Byron or Monahan call it quit for the season.

Pettersson Letang
P-O Joseph Petry
Ty Smith Ruhwedel
Dumoulin

Who are you scratching for him to play though, assuming it cost quite a bit to move Dumoulin

It doesn't make sense for Edmonton. A 50 point defenseman for an overpaid 4th line winger? Dumb.

That's an argument for Edmonton acquiring him cheaply at 50% retention. That's not a series of reasons why it would benefit the Oilers to send their most valuable trade asset away when they need defense more than a bottom-6 forward and greater cap relief than $1.1 million.

Basically every team has one or two OFD, it's probably going to cost Edmonton to trade him, they save some cap and have Bouchard to replace him + in this scenario they have Rutta coming in

Isn't Foegele basically another McGinn?

A change of scenery won’t help the guys biggest issue is he’s hurt 50% of the time in a flat cap world you can’t have guys like that on your team and he’s a 1.5 mil player in today’s market and he’s making 3.4 mil
