If it were just a coin flip for a roster spot, then maybe, but it's not.

Aside from the fact that it's poor asset management to just give away three quality prospects, you're severely crippling what the Kings are able to do in case of injury. They'll only have one sub at each position and no cap space to call up extras if more than one gets hurt. If you want to LTIR someone for cap relief, you have to sideline them for a month.

After what the Kings went through last season, along with the fact that both Walker and Arvidsson are both just returning from major injuries, they're not going to go into this season with only 22 players.

In terms of injury, we can always call up Turcotte and Spence when needed. We only potentially lose two prospects (Andersson and JAD). In this case might as well trade them both over Durzi.

This generalization that all Habs fans are ignorant and don't pay attention to other teams needs or wants could be characterized as flaming. You assume that none of us do but many (not all) do actually pay attention. Just cause someone says Armia is not a cap dump on a Sabres thread doesnt mean that they think there is a fit. It simply is said to counter the ridiculous people who think all Habs players are cap dumps. I for one have had many discussions with fans of other teams on the validity of my trades and I try to only make trades where there is a fit for both sides (most that aren't a fit for fans on this site are based on trades discussed on other sites). I generally also try to look at the cap space another team has, but go ahead generalize all Habs fans as being ignorant, you will end up getting reported for it one of these days.

But that's the point. No you can't. There's no cap space.

I'm listening.

The Kings had a similar situation back in 2014 when Voynov was suspended indefinitely. They were pressed up against the cap and didn't have any cap space to recall anyone. They suffered a few injuries and had to play a game with only 19 skaters because they were a few thousand short on cap space to recall a league-minimum player from Manchester.

Short of placing an "injured" player on LTIR or trading someone to make room, there's no way that you can get around the cap.

I'd rather have Iafallo than Durzi.

I don't think Durzi will be on the Kings by the end of training camp.
