Evans is an established NHL player, Lundkvist is a prospect whining about being buried in the minors. NY adds here not Montreal!

Edit *** Fair trade would be buried prospect for buried prospect eg. Mysak for Lundkvist.

MTL could dump Hoffman instead of Armia at that price

I like Evans but I think he’s expendable since we resigned Pitlick. I don’t see him as anymore than a 4th line depth centre, where Lundkvist plays a position on need for the Habs and has top 4 puck moving potential. I feel like the Rangers are looking for a depth centre on a team friendly deal and Evans fits the bill.

Yeah I’d like to see one of them dumped before the season, but it’s going to cost a fair bit

Armia's cap is either movable or also keepable. Hoffman's is harder to move

Can't blame the kid for acting on the fact that there is no long term fit for him where he's currently at. It's his one life and he's not getting any younger. Sure, he might be able to see some minutes as people get injured, but there's no reason for him to settle for that best case scenario.

Personally a Lundqvist/Kidney swap tickles my fancy over moving either of Evans of Mysak, but that's just one mans opinion.

It’s a tough trade to figure out. Obviously Lundkvist is a fit in Montreal where he will get playing time. I doubt Hughes wants to give up a good prospect like Kidney, but then again Lundkvist was a former 1st Rd pick. Also hard to tell if New York wants more of a win now, know what you’re getting player, in Evans or a prospect to develop.
