With the rumoured trade request of Pierre-Luc Dubois from WPG, the Jets are in a tough spot. Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler seem to be a part of a toxic locker room environment as well, and a couple players rejected trades from the Jets and went to different teams for less money. Hopefully Cole Perfetti and Ville Heinola can be a part of a culture change in Winnipeg if they stay, as well as if Scheifele, Wheeler, and Dubois are moved.
Speaking of Heinola, he may spend another year in the AHL, as the Jets' defense corps are slightly crowded. They have five defensemen who are second pair caliber or better, as well as Dylan Samberg & Logan Stanley who can both play third pair, although Samberg could improve and become second pair caliber as well. Unless the Jets move out one of Brenden Dillon, Nate Schmidt, or Dylan DeMelo, there won't be space for Heinola... which may not be a bad thing unless he impresses in camp.
