I would love for that but he's getting paid $3.25m this season and he'll be getting a raise for sure.
I see him getting 30 points while playing 22+ mins a night this season against top competition.
Comparables are Carlo, Marino, Murphy, etc.

Debrincat is really good, but at 5’7 165LBS. he is not build to last, i would be afraid to signs him that much.
he is a 40 goal scorer but has never been a PPG guy.
i should try to sign him before the season starts and keep him under 9 mil.

His QO is $9m so that would never happen. If we don't pay him, someone else will. I think his game will last given his speed and elusiveness. Also doesn't he have like a 378 game iron man streak going?

Edit: It's 128 games (21st in the league at the moment). But he only missed a hand full of games in his career so far.

that’s good but all it takes is a knee injury to slow him down and without that top end speed he would lose a lot, and while his QO is 9 i doubt he balks at 8 yr 8.75. he has never been a PPG guy so i’m not sure he gets 9. just like Meier QO is 10 mil but he will never get a multi year 10 mil offer.
Fiala is very similar to Debrincat in PPG but doesn’t have Debrincat shot fiala got 7& 7.85 i could see Debrincat 7/8 year 8.5-8.75. 9.25 would be a bit of an overpay to me.
hell Gaudreau was only 9.75 and he was coming off a 115 point season.

He's a 20+ min a night RHD. Those guys get paid every time, and he's actually good. No reason to even hesitate imo.

That's the case for literally every professional athlete. Injuries can happen to anyone.
We're talking 41 goals and 78 points in 82 games. He's got the 8th most goals over the last 5 years among ALL NHLers.
If he puts up similar numbers to his usual this season, he easily gets $9m+.
I would love for him to get sub $9m but just don't see it happening.

yes injuries can derail any player, however bigger stronger guys or those who don’t depend on speed as their game tend to recover better from injuries or losing a step, take Pavelski for instance!
but again if Ottawa gives him 9+ it’s not a bad deal… but sub 9 would be safer.

Pretty realistic.

My lines are…

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
DeBrincat - Stutzle - Giroux
Formenton - Pinto - Joseph
Grieg - Kastelic - Kelly

Chabot - Thomson
Sanderson - Zub
Brannstrom - Docker

Forsberg - Søgaard

It's the opposite. Larger players without good speed tend to lose a step to injury because they can no longer keep up.

Considering all the big names in this year UFA class took much less than what people thought they would get, Cat would be lucky to get 9M when he hits UFA
