Don’t think the Sabres have interest in a Vet center either
We’re also “letting our kids play”

We sure wouldn’t give you a 2nd for him
No chance of that

Ya know, I might be in the minority of Sabres fans, but I'd be ok with this- on the condition that we move mittelstadt out for something.

The Habs only get 3 active retention deals. They will def need 2 for Dadonov & Drouin... Maybe also want to retain on Monahan. This is just not worth it because of the opportunity cost of not being able to retain when it can bring back a 1st.

If you're retaining in Dvorak then you're getting a much better deal then this

First, Monahan… If he’s healthy he may get an extension not be traded out; he’s actually a very good player but had some health issues that were corrected; Calgary traded him out because of cap space.

Drouin will probably still be on and off again so don’t think he’ll go anywhere if that’s the case; then Dadonov is a player Gorton and Hugues got this year, so if he puts up the numbers he may be traded without cap retention or if he ain’t putting the numbers they may want to keep him so they finish close to the bottom again.

There would have to be another move, bit we still have Thompson, cozens, Krebs and then everyone we just drafted at center

Drafted players will need 2-4 yrs of development. And with Dvorak you get a 2nd liner to a third the year after or next. Gives time to develop and give established players the opportunity to play with an experienced Cman.. He’s not that bad, last year in Mtl he wasn’t well surrounded. Gorton and Hughes are trading out Bergevin’s team. Some can’t because of the salary they got from Bergevin… Like Anderson and Gallagher, Armia.. Dvorak under 4M$ is a very good number for him.

No one is saying he’s bad
But there is NO SPOT AVAILABLE as a top9 Center for him

We are playing and developing our young talent,
and already have Thompson, Cozens, Mittelstadt & Krebs competing for the 3 center spots in the top9

We could use him as our “defensive line” center,
but (like i said before) we wouldn’t pay a 2nd for that

He’d be fine centering Girgs & Okposo,
but we shouldn’t (and won’t) give up a 2nd for a defensive line center

There's no way in hell they retain on Dvorak. Hughes is completely against it! He would have retained on Petry if he was ok with doing such a trade on a player with a good contract

All those players will be gone! Even if Drouin plays well there's too much baggage and Montreal couldnt afford a new deal nor does it fit their timeline. His wrist will never be the same and he has lost his ability to shoot the puck.

Monahan and Dadonov are placeholders, nothing more!
