Nothing really in Detroit. Not what his value would be anyways.

Many teams have full plates already. I don't think he'd be ideal for late summer trade.

What does Toronto need, other than cap space?

And until he repeats his performance from last season, can’t see many teams really lining up for him, even if teams could afford him. If he doesn’t repeat his performance from last year, you would be lucky to get a first and a decent prospect for him.

Can't imagine the Blues having the cap for anything, so you can probably cross them off.

While obviously he’s not a cap dump, Pacioretty was and he’s a similar player production wise.

If any team were smart they’d prepare to make cap room for him. He’s 100% walking in FA.

Even as a rental, Nylander will be worth a good deal to a real contender. With Matt Dumba expiring in 2023, I can see Minnesota offering a first and two prospects, including one of those 3 interesting LD youngsters, for him. And Washington have only 11 players under contract, including 5 top-6 forwards, with enough cap space to be able to absorb his hit.

Great player to have if you are trying to get your team to the play offs, but not someone you want on your roster during the important season. Doesn't exert a lot of effort on defense, doesn't sacrifice for the team, quits on plays, disappears the further a play off series is extended. Not someone that team mates would be inspired by after watching him play a shift.

30 goals and 80 points for $6.9 million is exactly the type of value production that Toronto needs to keep to be successful. If Toronto is still competing at the 23-24 trade deadline, it makes more sense to go all in an attempt to win than worsen their chances.

My point still stands. His value will be different wether or not he repeats his 80 point season or he reverts back to his average of 60 points. Doesn’t matter when the trade is made, although having only 1 year on his deal would decrease his value a little. It would be much like the DeBrincat situation, where in order to get DeBrincat team would have to have cap space for a 9+mil contract for next season. For Nylander, it would more than likely be at least an 8+mil contract that is demanded. Not to mention, he won’t get as much as DeBrincat, since he is older, would be a year from UFA, and has a history of being a diva for contracts, where he sat until December, wasn’t it, before getting signed.

If he repeats, I would be willing to offer a first and a somewhat decent prospect. If he reverts back to his average of 60 points, 2 2nds and a mid round pick.

For the Sabers Bjork, Toronto gets a lower cap hit and the Sabers get a decent winger. I wouldn't trade any player or early picks the Sabers have to much potential right now.

Nylander hasn't averaged 60 points for the last 3 seasons. Players grow. To call nylander a 60 point player is ridiculous.

You’re right. He averaged less than 60 points. Sorry must have blown my math. Sure he has grown, but will it be sustained growth? That’s the question mark.
