If offer sheets were going to happen, It would've happen by now. Not 11 days before training camp.

At the cap and 3m raise for Miller next season and Horvat to sign. Durzi seems like a luxury.

Look at your salary cap for next season? Giving Durzi a $4,000,000 offer sheet. Hurts your ability to resign Bo Horvat next season.

Thanks for the info.
I'm 68. Where did you grow up watching hockey, and where are you now (if you wish to disclose?.
I spend most of my life in the Toronto area and now live retired 90 minutes NW of Toronto.

I'm originally from Metro Detroit, I grew up in the Detroit suburb of Westland, Michigan and started following the Red Wings when i turned 5 went to my first Red Wings game at the old Olympia Stadium at age 11 back in 1972 Gordie Howes last season in Detroit and Mickey Redmonds rookie season.

Me and my Mom would spend many of summers in Toronto. We would take the amtrak train out of Windsor on many occasions during the 1970's.

Thanks for sharing. My first NHL game was I believe was January 1962, Leafs against Bruins at Maple Leaf Gardens. Ed Litzenberger scored a hat trick. Tickets were almost impossible to get. Went to the Olympia for a Wings/Blues afternoon game in February 1977. What I remember about the Olympia was the extremely steep stairs. Don't know how folks would have a few beers and find a way to down safely to exits.

Yep as why spend 4mill on Gudbranson or Chiarot when you can go spend 4mill on a guy like Sandin or Durzi.

Basically Offersheets are pretty much dead now thanks to Carolina as the fear of retaliation has stopped teams from going hmmm lets do it even if the team that player's on is right against the cap

As you would think more teams would do it considering that it would have only costed a team a 2nd to grab Sandin or Durzi on a 4.2mill OS. But as mentioned above OS were rare and thanks to Carolina's retaliation OS they might have now become extinct.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Offer sheets will be a dying breed, Unless it's for a major franchise talent. And those will be locked up long before any team could offer sheet them.

Even then I dont see it. As if that was the case Barzal would have been OS before he signed that 7mill x 3 year deal as Isles were right against the cap and a 9-10mill OS would have caused issues

And then knowing Lou he would wait and grab that teams star in a few years

NHL should start maybe exploring alternatives or make OS more enticing to a team. But from the looks of things soon a 4mill OS will result in a 1st or something going to the other team whose player got taken

Kings would match and move Sean Walker, then trade Durzi next summer.

Don't know if it's a good idea for a cap strapped team to offer sheet other teams young talent. That seems like it could backfire badly.
