Sign Milano Rodriguez and Stralman

Created by: GMTD
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 11, 2022
Published: Sep. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Milano, Rodrigiuz and Strålman would fit into Pegula's budget and would add depth.
Rodrigiuz would be a perfect RW for Mittelstadt and could help set up Olofsson.
Evan could also play center in case of an injury.
Sure, Peterka could be ready, but HInostroza and now Sonny are insurance policies.
The subs played 187 games (Bjork 58/5; Murray 19/2; Caggiula 18/2; Jankowski 19/2; Ruotsalainen 18/2; Hayden 55/2 gm/gl).
Hinostroza and Milano would certainly be an upgrade over nearly everyone listed as they scored more goals than those 6 forwards combined last season.
They could replace nearly any forward other than Skinner, Thompson, Tuch or Olofsson and there would not be a huge drop in talent.

DiPietro give Buffalo another decent GK just in case the Sabres endured another GK apocalypse as they did last year.

Stralman - yes
Milano - meh
Rodriguez - been there, no thanks

I like getting DiPietro for Bjork, but there's no need to bring in Dickinson. Could it be 1-for-1? Sabres could retain on Bjork.

I think the point of the trade was that Dickinson was a cap dump, and Dipietro was the sweetener. Bjork was only there to make sure we lost a contract. I don't think anybody is clamoring to give us anything useful for bjork straight up.

Also, agree on the players- stralman sure, pass on the others.

Is Bjork any good? Does he have any upside?

26 can play both wings. He is fast just not a smart hockey player. Shows signs some games and others he looks lost. Actually did alright on a checking line with Girgensons and Okposso

Wouldn't mind getting Bjork then, but I don't know if we should move DiPietro out. I have my reservations about it.

No reason to sign any of those UFAs. I wouldn’t mind Milano but with Peterka waiting doesn’t make sense. Plus they signed Sheahan. The only way Ryan Johnson signs here is if he plays right away with the Sabres so signing Stralman delays that and doesn’t give Bryson Pilut or Fitzgerald ice.

Sabres don’t want him anyway. They have Comrie and Anderson with UPL to play some games too. Adams working on Portillo and Levi for future. He is not worried about DiPietro

So the Stanley Cup Champions can use a depth forward that would be useless as a Sabre.
Peterka could be ready, but Sonny and Rodrigues are insurance policies.
The subs played 187 games (Bjork 58/5; Murray 19/2; Caggiula 18/2; Jankowski 19/2; Ruotsalainen 18/2; Hayden 55/2 gm/gl).
Either of them would be better than any of them, as Sonny scored only one less goal and Evan four more goals than they did last year.

EDIT:
Check this out, https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3639202 and herehttps://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3639398 Evan is penciled in as the #2 center, but Buffalo cannot use him.
Here he is the third line center https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3639386

Could this be one of the reasons why Buffalo has missed the playoffs for the past 11 seasons?

Ha! There's a ton of reasons why the Sabres missed the playoffs for 11 years. Not dressing Evan Rodriguez was never one of them.
