Initial Creation Date: Sep. 13, 2022
Published: Sep. 13, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dach will likely get a Top 6 role. He hasn't been great since that wrist injury. He only had 26 points last year. Hughes seems to think Dach can bounce back. be. Honestly my expectations are low. I think Dach's projected stat line is 79GP-10G-19A-29P. That's quite low, but hey u gotta go with gut feelings.

I think he’s gonna have a very solid year. I predict 18 goal and 35 assists 53 points in 77 games

I also prefer to stay realistic with him. But at 21, even if he puts up those stats I would be satisfied if he also impacts the game in other areas and finds some sort of consistency in his play.

Progression is key this year. Then expectations can rise a bit.

That's very optimistic. Dach had Patrick Kane and Alex Debrincat on his team last season. I know he didn't play that much with them, but there was also Dylan Strome who had a career year and Brandon Hagel who was also having a career year (he kinda struggled after getting traded). There's Seth Jones on the backend. I don't think Suzuki/Caufield could replicate that skill of Kane/Debrincat. Canadiens still don't really have a good 2C. Idk if Dvorak is the answer. Monahan idk if he's fully healthy.

Both being playmakers, you can't put Dach on the same line as Drouin. And they both need to play with finishers.

Your 2nd line would be too easy to play against. Put pressure on the wingers and intercept a pass to Dvorak which would obviously be the attempted play.

For now, we know that Dach can distribute the puck and play defensively but can't win faceoffs. I predict he will be tried with Suzuki and Caufield sooner than later.

Great point on Drouin and Dach but I still think the idea is to have Dach in the middle with Drouin and Anderson. That would be a tremendously fast and skilled line.

I think the lineup will be

Caufield-Suzuki-Dadonov
Drouin-Dach-Anderson
Monahan-Dvorak-Gallagher
Hoffman-Evans-Armia
Matheson-Savard
Edmundson-Barron
Harris-Wideman
Allen
Montembault

Pitlick
Pezzetta
Schueneman

with Slaf subbing in for Drouin for the first 9 games and Guhle subbing with Harris for 9 games

To be fair Danault was worse off when we got him from the same team.
Danault started on 4th line LW and within 30 games was at Center when Mitchell got hurt.
Within a handfull of days he was called up to 3rd line to replace the injured Desharnais beside the demoted Pacioretty.

Danault just clicked with Patches and his career rose from there until he established himself as more then just the tag along on the lines he was on.
All it takes is 1 great player to click with you and IMO that player will be Sean Monahan IMO
I think Monahan will earn himself a contract next year with MTL after he goes on a playoff run

My point is he can succeed in that role with the right people
I think its why MSL/Hughes was so open to bringing Monahan in despite cap retrictions that delayed our ability to sign either Dach or Primeau until recently

The only thing I’m confident in is that that contract he just signed will be way off. Either he’ll be worth at least double that, or he’ll wash out.
