But you don't really need to. They can move him on LTIR, and use the money to still sign Robertson to a deal like this. Kinda surprised this hasn't happened yet, however still a lot of other bigcontracts that could be moved.

From what i have heard from Sportsnet, Elliot Friedman is that they are looking at a bridge deal 3 x 7, then then the cap will finally start going up, some contracts will be off the books and Stars can pony up a big deal after that.

They'll obviously move him to LTIR if they can, but signs point to him being healthy enough to play. Wedgewood has not been shown to be a consistent backup in the NHL and Dobby could easily push him out if he finds some form. That'll be his view on things.

3 year bridge makes sense to give them some wiggle room to re-sign Hintz and either replace or re-sign Pavelski. Benn's deal will be up by then and they should have the space to extend him and Oettinger. Can definitely make a case that he deserves at least what Pettersson got though, which is tough to fit.

Why would the Stars give Thornton money and a roster spot when they have Bourque, Dellandrea, Johnston, Stankoven, Blumel, and Damiani all knocking on the door or ready to be a full time NHLer?
