I don't think this is realistic, but I wanted to see how the Oilers could become Cap Compliant without making any trades. Janmark and Ryan demoted to the Minors. Smith and Klefbom to the LTIR. Roll with 11 forwards, 7 D and 1 scratch, so only 21 on the roster.

The Janmark signing was idiotic, hopefully he proves me wrong, but i really think it was an absolute waste of precious cap space for a team that was already deep with Left shot guys.
All for burrying guys in the A, they could be potentially picked up by another team and that would be a good way to get rid of them entirely off the books. I'd send Shore down as well and have Malone up for the 4th line. And I doubt Benson gets a call up this season, there are a few other guys in the A that need to get a kick at the can.

I literally just put together this roster, but with Malone up instead of Shore and Samorukov as the scratch. Nice!

I agree CD282.

While I am a big supporter of ensuring young players earn their opportunities, unless Holland is able to move out salary between now and then, cap and asset management considerations suggest Holloway, Broberg, and Samorukov should all be on the opening night roster.
