The Jets need DeMelo far more than they need Kerfoot and Holl doesn't add anything to the deal.

Holl is barely a replacement level defenseman, while DeMelo can play in the top 4. So, Holl in not anywhere near being a replacement for DeMelo.

demelo has 18:30 avg ice time holl has 20 mins, the only difference between the 2 is 7 giveaways.

Other than Holl also being a year older. If they're basically the same, according to you, Toronto can keep Holl and the Jets will keep DeMelo. Holl doesn't give Winnipeg anything they need. Just plug Holl in where you wanted to use DeMelo.

Just make it a 4th for Kerfoot and we've got a deal.

Cool. Stats for a heavily sheltered, replacement level defenseman against the easiest competition don't mean a lot. But of you believe his stats are the be all, and all, why do you want to trade him for a defenseman that isn't much better?

I'd say keep Holl, play him where you wanted to play DeMelo and enjoy the cap savings.

So then give us an answer, why the hell do you want Demelo so bad and are willing to give up a "reliable 50 point player" for him as well in the deal if he is basically the same as Holl?

Last year it was

Morrissey - Demelo
Samberg - Pionk
Dillon - Schmidt
Stanley (healthy scratch)

There was a point in the season where it was Dillon-Pionk and Heinola-Schmidt, but the pairings the settled on were the ones above.

Right. You would do it, Winnipeg wouldn't touch it, because as you've just said DeMelo is better.
