So pretty much, Canes are paying 2 2nds for the first, and the 2 3rds for JVR half retained, with the 5th and a 3rd coming from Philly to a third team for 25% extra retention.

Counter offer: JVR half retained to the Canes for 2 3rds, with a third team retaining the extra portion for a 4th rounder from Carolina and a 5th rounder from Philly.

Correct, but I would do that JVR deal.

Pens FANS would love this trade, but unfortunately Hextall clearly sees something he likes and signed him to two-year extension, so Kapanen has at least of season of rope before anything happens.

Forget trade value (what picks etc) - why do the Canes need JVR? Where does he play? What happens when Patches come back? Unnecessary player based on current roster construction

Hammerwise, where have you been? We so missed the JVR trades. Boy that is a lot of picks. Agree with other posters. Unless the Canes endure some season ending injuries, there won't be a fit. But certainly not for that voluminous number of picks. And I can't see a 1st being involved. Welcome back!

Hahaha, been away for a bit, but I know you Canes fans love my constant JVR trades.... To be fair PHI will throw in MacEwen too, (and I still think the Canes need somebody who can throw the mitts).

JVR at the deadline (and now) with 50% retention is worth the 2 3rds and a bit more (evelutions2 is right on that), but CAR is probably not the destination, even with Patches on the shelf until jan/feb. But JVR is just in PHI's way to acquire other trade assets or play youth, and I'd rather move him now.

It is not that the value is bad, but the Isles need Beau more than Sanheim. Remove Beau from the lineup and the forwards are even older and slower than they are now, the Isles simply cannot do that.

Agreed on that, Isles would have a real nice LD-RD defense with Sanheim (who's a fairly easy re-sign) at 2LD and Romanov at 3LD, but yeah the Isles dont have much youth at forward and trading Barzal's bestie probably doesn;t work in NYI
