I’m definitely thinking flyers under 77 is a awesome bet, but after a second thought, my gut screams they will never finish last.

Arizona and Chicago are just too stubborn.
Arizona is EVENTUALLY going to sell some major pieces sooner rather than later; IE before the seasons end. Chicago is Chicago and they’re arguably just as bad as Arizona - with even larger potential trade chips.

I don’t see a world where Arizona AND Chicago both CHOOSE to finish with more points than last year, because if they do finish with more points; that’s going come down to management not selling the farm. Which would be catastrophic to their organizations to not finish 1 or 2 in pick odds.

Flyers under is free money I agree, but Flyers last is lost money.

Yeah maybe don’t put the farm on Flyers last, but it’s definitely the best value, since I think they’re probably bottom 3 at best and they’re rated 5th worst. I just think the vibes are off and don’t think they have anything to play for, nor any good players to actually put on the ice since they all keep getting hurt, and their 4th line is comprised of the last 3 enforcers in the NHL lmao. Probably just gonna put a lot on the under though, unless I decide to cover all the bases (equal amounts on Arizona, Chicago, Montreal, and Philadelphia means I lose nothing if Arizona finishes last, and win money if any of the other 3 finish last).

Also apparently Connor Zary was mic’d up for the rookie game vs. the Jets and he told MEP (quite possibly the smallest man to ever exist) to get a pick 💀💀

Hi,
Was reading espn and this caught my eye:

Something that stood out here is in Year 4 of that deal, in 2026-27. That's when MacKinnon's signing bonus drops to $3 million, lower than it is in any other year. We're not trying to freak anyone out here during a time of labor peace ... but the current NHL/NHLPA collective bargaining agreement ends after the 2025-26 season.

(There is one caveat: one season will automatically be added to the CBA, through the 2026-27 season and expiring Sept. 16, 2027, if after the 2024-25 season the players' escrow debt exceeds $125 million but is less than $250 million. But the NHL projects that the players will have paid off their escrow debt within three seasons.)

I think that's an aspect of this deal that will raise other agents' eyebrows.

1. How does this year 4 structure of more actual pay less signing bonus affect things?
If I understood correctly signing bonuses are used to make deals more "lockout proof" if there a reason this year is structured differently from previous years?
Something to do with potential lock out nhlpa payments or...?

I’m happy Holl gonna be playing top 4. Maybe the Sens can get another 2 on 0 breakaway with Stutzle and Tkachuk

Building upon Doms Tier List of the top 100 players

RANKING TEAMS BASED ON TOP 100 REPRESENTATION, from The Athletic (rankings from their article, with my own notes)

Tier 1: The Favourite
Colorado - the only team within the top tier, the stacked lineup leads the league in representation per the criteria.

Tier 2: Cup Contenders
Toronto, Tampa, Calgary, Florida

I’m pretty happy so far reading this list. I don’t SUBJECTIVELY think Colorado is going back to back but they have a wicked team, and they’re followed by the 4 proper teams. The Leafs have eventually get to the top of the hill… right? Tampa is Tampa, and Florida albeit I may not love their odds, surely can’t fall below 100 pts. And Calgary is a better TEAM imo then last year to beat Edmonton.

Tier 3: Playoff Leads
Boston, Rangers, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Carolina, St. Louis, Vegas, Dallas, Minnesota, New Jersey

Boston and New Jersey are bold to be within the same sentence as Edmonton and Carolina but this is a comfortable tier. I believe Vegas, NJD, Boston are the front runners to fall out of this tier and out of the playoffs. Carolina and Edmonton each have a case to be a tier higher. Vegas could, but their cap structure and injury situation make me very happy to see them in tier 3, its just right.

Tier 4: The Hopefuls
Los Angeles, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Vancouver, Nashville, San Jose, Islanders, Columbus, Washington

Interesting note “Of the nine teams, only two have players residing in Tier 1 or Tier 2” - that’s Gaudreau and Josi, rising their respective teams up the rankings. Where as a team like SJS is riding HIGH on multiple Tier 3 players (Karlsson, Meier, Hertl). Dom believes SJS could be lower. I believe they could be higher with another big year form Meier (he could break into Tier 2). I believe Winnipeg is going to collapse, the other 8 I think are going to be the “limbo” teams who will crush some teams hopes with some big wins.

Tier 5: Bottom of the Barrel
Chicago, Detroit, Anaheim, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Seattle, Montreal, Arizona

Shocker.
Great note tho, Philly fell incredibly hard losing Couturier’s high ranking (which injury was taken into consideration) - yet he still remained in the top 100; despite his injury he barely made the cut. Without him an already measly team would be with the following teams.

Montreal, Seattle, and Arizona are the only teams in the league with 0 representatives in the top 100 tier list from Dom/ The Athletic. Dom recommends Keller, Suzuki, Caufield, Gourde (Captain Canada), Burakovsky as the leaders to climb into the top 100. I counter with Suzuki, Caufield, Beniers, Wright, Bedard lol.

Both pieces are great reads for those interested (Tier List of the Top 100, and now the teams ranked based on said top 100).

"The Stars should be in a position to give Lundkvist the minutes he needs to showcase the player he was at the SHL level. His maturation over the last couple of seasons should make him an effective NHLer with a modern defensive game and complete transitional game. His offensive game is dynamic without being unnecessarily complicated. There’s a lot to like about Lundkvist’s game and we should get to see the full nature of his ability with the Stars this season. "

Wow the stars are getting the next Devon Toews.

Him, Peterson, Gurianov, Dellandrea and Harley should benefit from our new coach.

Edit: These are what I think our lines should be

oh he played for Lou. That makes sense. He's paying him 750k to play in the AHL. I guess hell do the same for zaitsev if he wants to play in Bridgeport.
