I’ll tell you one thing. If Ottawa is on its way to the playoffs, they’ll acquire a solid Dman at the deadline. And idk if I trust the leafs goaltending as much as I would Ottawa. Ottawa wouldn’t be favoured to win so Ottawa would have a good chance to win

Congrats I guess. No one from that team is still here and they lost the game anyways. Congrats on his individual achievement and his 60 goals that have not lead to even 1 playoff series win.

Montreal line matched the Matthews line with the Danault line and Weber-Chariot. Tampa matched with the Cirelli line and McDonaugh-Cernak. Does Ottawa have a shutdown line and pair that’ll collapse the front of the net consistently and block shots? If they will then I can see it

Greig/Motte/Formenton-Pinto-Joseph will be as good as a shutdown line as they come with a scoring touch

I'm not sure but does a team relocating count as an expansion team? Seems pretty dumb to me.

I get why expansion teams have such a staggering bill for them to deal with as they start from the zero and need to prove themselves able to perform in NHL's standards, but a team relocating from a state of failure in an attempt to rescue to franchise seems off to me. Or at the very least counterproductive - why would you load so much money to save a sinking ship if it's almost impossible to net anything from it?

Thanks! I decided to go hotter than I normally do and make it fun, since it is hot takes.

Like justaBoss said, I don’t think that’s how relocations work. I don’t really remember Atlanta moving to Winnipeg and I wasn’t alive for any other relocations so I’m not an expert on this by any means, but I’m pretty sure when a team relocates, it just moves, no expansion fees. After all, it’s not a new team coming out of nowhere, it’s a team moving. I could be wrong, but im pretty sure there is no expansion fee. I’d love to find out the answer to this, if you have a source.

My whole point is that there’s no expansion fee associated with relocation lol. When Houston enters the league, every team is gonna want their cut of a billion dollars. Selling the Coyotes to the Houston owner for 300-500mil would be great for him, because he gets his team for cheaper, and terrible for the rest of the league, because they miss out on the expansion fee as the money he does pay would just go to the current Coyotes owner. Bettman’s just not gonna let that happen, there’s no shot he lets Houston in without a billion dollars going to the rest of the owners.

I agree with col, ovi, devils, kreider might just get 30 but it will be close imo. It all depends on the amount of power play time the rangers get. And Arizona will be bad

Simmonds and Clifford are the only two and I don't think they make this roster. But I agree, looking forward to a renewed version of the Battle of Ontario.

Dom Luszczyszyn's, from the Athletic, TOP100 in TIERS
only going to do 2 tiers of the 4
domluszczyszyn, seangentille, coreypronman, shayna, and 20 people polled inside hockey - Dom on how the list as compiled

Tier 1 - The MVP's

1A - Matthews - McDavid - Makar
1B - MacKinnon - Leon - Hedman
1C - Barkov - Crosby - Kuch - Josi

My favourite takeaway for Toronto Maple Leafs Edmonton Oilers Colorado Avalanche fans:
- Matthews is the leagues most COMPLETE player.
- What Matthews and Makar each did this past year was special enough to be McDavids peers.
- What McDavid did in the playoffs proved "he is the top dog", no one else.

This tier in its own (which is much deeper than I've described) is a GREAT read.

Tier 2 - Franchise Players

2A - KK97 - Marner - Rantanen - Fox - McAvoy
2B - Bergeron - Gaudreau - Marchand - Panarin - Tkachuk (M) - Heiskanen
2C - Aho - Pasta - Point - Ekblad - Slavin

I'd argue that what Drai did in the playoffs was more impressive, the man set the record for the most points in a 5 game series on 1 leg
