Just look at Vegas, they took a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners, gave them ice time and all of the sudden they were top 6 forwards and top 4 defenders.

its looks silly now but at the time we had boyd and dowd so we didnt need him and he didnt do anything really. wish we gave him a chnace but we couldnt have because we had vrana bura wilson oshie eller connolly etc. so many guys upfront. surprised we got a 5th for him

Maybe , but it’s less likely right now. The way the isles have handled his development was terrible. After having an elite season in his D+2 in the WHL, he had a great season and should have made the isles out of camp and got the 9 game look. Instead he was buried in the AHL in a 4th line role, told not to worry about points and to develop his defensive game. Over the years I feel like the offense has been coached out of him. His could still be a decent middle 6 winger, but he won’t even be a regular so the lack of playing time will continue to hurt him.

There are a lot of young players who’s confidence is destroyed by coaches who have a BS old school mentality. One mistake and they’re benched - while “responsible” vets get to make the same mistakes over and over again

You just never know with the islanders. I think Aho will be the 6D top, but Salo has the next best shot.
