Caps vs Sabres Preseason Notes: (I'm late to making these, but I'll do them regardless.)

- What an absolute shocker, a 26 year old goalie who's never been a consistent AHL starter didn't turn out to be an elite NHL goalie when he came in for Fucale. Maybe Caps fans will shut the hell up about how Hunter Shepard is going to be elite.
- The Protas-Dowd-Sheary line impressed, and had a great tic-tac-toe goal with a beautiful behind-the-back pass from Dowd to start the sequence.
- Buffalo has some great looking prospects, Peterka especially impressed me, despite not netting a goal.
- Snively and Protas are going to possibly force the Caps to lose one or both of Jonsson-Fjallby and Leason to waivers, both were quite impressive and could push for roster spots.
- Luukonen looked decent position-wise, gave up a couple goals but at least two of them were on cross-crease one-timer/fake one-timer goals to Mantha and Sheary.
- Under-appreciated player of the game was Martin Hugo Has, didn't have any highlight plays but looked solid in his own zone. Least Impressive player of the day went to Dru Krebs. Any sort of development he had a chance to have last year was certainly killed by playing on that abysmal Medicine Hat team. Garin Bjorklund likely suffered from that as well, but we'll have to see later as he hasn't got any time in net just yet.

I've been waiting a while for this.

My takes, some of them may be hot takes for some ppl:

1) Florida isn’t a contender

2) Nashville is gonna finish first in the central

3) Edmonton won’t reach the conference finals

4) Winnipeg are gonna be the biggest sellers at the deadline

5) Colorado will let In a lot of goals with that goaltending duo

6) Boston won’t be able to recover from a terrible start from injuries

7) Montreal will be better than expected

8) The Isles will make the playoffs with Sorokin .925+ and best D in the league allowing the fewest goals.

9) The Rangers regress and don’t go as far as they did last year.

10) Seattle and Philly finish bottom 5

Knight won’t be as good as people say he will be

He's hasn't proven much yet apart from having huge potential, he can't really "fall off"

In general Knight still has a lot to prove to me. At times he looked good other times he looked like an AHL goalie. Lets see how this plays out as this could end up being great or if Bob falls off and Knight becomes the starter and he cant do it Florida in trouble
