While Petrov is indeed interesting, I'm not sure giving up Entwistle and taking on Ceci is worth it

I agree. Entwistle is a solid young player who has an opportunity to develop with a rebuilding team. He's likely going to play a more prominent role as a Hawk than he will as an Oiler. Ceci has worked out very well in Edmonton because of the manner in which he's been deployed; his contract is looking like a very fair deal right now. The situation in Chicago is much different, and its likely Ceci would not provide the same kind of value there. I would not be happy if this trade occurred, particularly if Holland sent Petrov away as well.

Lets be honest here, they're trading Ceci for Hoffman and that simply doesn't make sense for EDM right now.

Not to mention that they cannot buyout Foegele. The window to do it has passed.

The cap penalty from cap overrages due to bonuses are already deducted from the cap so you don't need to stay above 896k.

untrue, Oilers max cap hit next season is 81,604,000 due to the carryover bonuses and he has his cap set to the standard $82.5M so he would still need to stay 896K over the cap, Currently we are -400k on puckpedia with mcleod still to sing but on here capfriendly we still have 300k in cap space with Klef and smith on LTIR

Put all your players on LTIR, you'll see. The amount shown under "cap space" is the real cap space, with the carryover bonuses deducted.
