I think the premise with that take is that JV will come in at a cap hit above 750K. He's had ego problems in the past, I don't think he'd sign below 1M due to that. Depending on how long it takes for him to get a concrete offer/what teams have space left for him, this might change. If he comes in at the league minimum, you'll have no issues signing McLeod & JV through offloading Foegele alone

think this is blown out of proportion a little bit. From what I have heard him say is you basically have 3 option even before considering signing JV.
1. Trade JP
2.Trade foegele
3. Trade Barrie

when considering those options if you trade Barrie you need to bring in another RD so its really a non start.
Trading Foegele you will have to attach something else probably at the moment to get rid of him
trading JP will actually bring something back and is easiest to do.
