This explains a lot because he hasn’t gave a sh*t in a couple of months or this year for that matter

He still turns it on at times but i don’t think I’ve seen him give an effort consistently since 2019.

Once we trade Mantha dude is going to pop off again.

His only shot would be going to a Seattle or rebuilding team where he gets an unlimited leash and first line and PP time

We give mantha 50% retained and late pick for sprong rights

Sprong is a decent middle 6 winger. Not what we need imo

Interesting that Tarik in the Athletic today says he still doesn't know if Kuzy's trade request is real or not

I would like to apologize to everyone in the thread with my miss typing and bad takes lately. I’ve been pretty out of it.

Best thing for us

We can go

Strome
McMike
Backy
Dowd

Then we can move Mantha and kuzy and have enough money for two elite scoring wingers

Just a question (not my opinion), but do you think the Caps will look to bring in a guy who can play both C and Wing (like a JT Compher type - not literally him, but someone who can play both). With Kuzy and Mantha being gone, they would have the cap space.

The only reason I ask this is because I know the team is trying to get younger, but if we ran the above down the middle, that is saying Caps believe McMike is ready to play 16+ minutes a night, play a strong two-way game, and produce like a 2nd line center (which I'd say is maybe 40+ points minimum and I'd say that is low)?

@All_Knowing

I would also take a gamble on Cody Glass.

Personally I would target an Rfa that’s capable of playing 2line minutes and is steady in 2c production.

I think that they will try to -- Schmaltz and Miller are two guys who fit that role and certainly seem gettable -- but I think the most important thing is just getting the best player they can. I think especially if you can get a truly elite winger, you could theoretically go strome-backy-mcmichael-dowd at center and have like a 19-16-13-12 minutes split. It would be nice if McMichael or a new guy could take over the 2c role and as you say give 16+ minutes a night to cut Backstrom's usage, but if you have the choice between a second tier guy like compher or roslovic or coyle with a little less backstrom or a guy like debrincat or keller and a bit more backstrom I'm going with the second option 10 times out of 10

i like the idea of taking a chance on guys like glass, n robertson, hoglander but I don't think that profile as the main addition this summer is enough

I’m just high off on how sandin has been so I think I would gamble again. But your right

I think ideally you gamble AND get an established name, also the D corps had a lot fewer holes to plug than the forward group does. Getting a forward version of Sandin would be a great pickup though

How would you feel about getting hayton and Nick s in the same deal.

I have a feeling JT Miller will be a Capital next season.

Could see a Kuzy for Miller trade straight up

Both great fits. Think AZ would need a lot to move on from Hayton but I think Schmaltz is much more gettable than people think given just how much money he is owed ...

So what I have is miller for Kuz. Then also hayton and Nick s for what it would cost for alex Debrincat and some.

He is starting a 8x8 and is already 30.

I know this is knit picky - but isn't that a little risky...

Might not have another choice - but I do like Chytil a touch more (solely for being younger) - RFA 1x$6mil (similar to CAR last year - I do not think NYR can match that, especially with Laf and Miller needing new deals).

I don't really want to make that move but I could see it happening. Miller can play wing and Center and van may be willing to take Kuzy back

the difference in quality between Tarik, Japers, Sam Pell (RIP), and the really impressive this year Sammi Silber and RMNB is astounding. Used to just be the comments section that was horrible with the odd completely plagiarized article, but this is a new low for them

Why are people butchering Kuzy trade value. They look at stats and say he isn’t worth the contract. But when he wants to he is top 15 center in the league

It’s sad honestly. It’s like all they care for anymore is tweeting dumb stuff at Alan May and mindless drivel about “young player equals good player”.

At least we seem to have a requirement of one reporter with Sam in the name being good at all times.

Ok so let’s say Kuzy doesn’t gets moved. We have coaching change and he goes crazy again.

What else would we do.
