montreal probably passes. there over the cap and there's no way there gonna retain. barrie has like 4.5 million in cap. that's kinda considered as a cap dump. even if they did this traded. they'd be 1.4 million over the cap

Habs can't fit all that under the cap and would expect a better return taking all that cap plus giving up Drouin to top it off

1) yes, the can fit that under the cap, with Price and Byron likely on LTIR for the remainder of their contracts, and Monahan starting the season off on LTIR freeing up tons of room.

2) They get Lavoie, a B+ prospect, and a RHD under contract for 2 seasons in Barrie.

As a Habs fan, I take that deal for Drouin who is definitely too soft mentally to ever play in the Montreal market after this season.

Neither Byron or Monahan will be placed on LTIR. This has already been confirmed by Hughes. Only Price will be on LTIR to start the season. Byron will start on regular IR and will still count against the cap. Still no confirmation if Monahan and Drouin will start the season, but neither will be on LTIR.

....Habs won't have the cap space.

Clearly math isn't your strong suit, or critical thinking, as you should've have ran the simulation rather than running your mouth. lol

Go make the team with the retained salary, Pezetta and Schueneman to the minors, would yield a cap hit of $82,489,166..... yes, it's below the cap.

Keeping only Price on LTIR.

So, to reiterate, Habs will have the cap space.

ugh.... I forgot how obnoxious 99% of the internet is.

I literally did a mock ACGM, and doing this deal, dumping Lavoie, Schueneman, and the Pez in the minors... only rolling at 21 man roster... gives the Habs just below $11k in "cap space"....

If you live in reality, Hughes won't risk not having enough cap space to do call ups to cover injuries (and there will be more than just one at a time during the season). so Habs will be rolling more than a 21 man roster..... hence..

They won't have the cap, and they most certainly won't put themselves in a $11k cap for freakin Tyson Barrie... not to mention taking on an additional year of his contract as opposed to Drouin being UFA at the end of this year.

Leafs aren't trading one of the best forecheckers in the league and NAK said he wants to earn a spot long term in Toronto

Lavoie is not a B+ prospect, he has 36 points in 75 ahl games and hes 21 now. Looks like he might be a 3rd line player at best.

So, now we go from "No cap room" to "not likely because I know more than you"

You're acting like Montreal will be anything but a bottom feeder for the next 2 seasons, and you're clearly not living in "reality" if you expect either of Dadonov, Monahan, Byron or Drouin to not have already been moved by the deadline, or, expiring contracts, leaving room for a RHD to remove pressure from the growth of Barron, so that "extra year" = $20M off the books in exchange for 1 year at $4.5M, again, your math skills are outstanding.

Take the L bud, you make a comment based on nothing, then proceed to ignore you were wrong, then make another comment founded on nothing but ego.

at 21 and you think he's already a write-off?

Bakersfield was a middle pack team relying on subpar players, (Marody, their second best player had 55 points to Lavoies 26, and wasn't even offered a contract)

Kid has talent, if he turns into a serviceable third liner at worse, that's better than having Drouin sit in his moms basement watching the games on TV.
