Detroit won't be trading their number 1 center for Nylander a late 1st and a couple AHL players. Don't even start on the Sandin is a top 4 BS.

edit: I missed the 50% retention on Larkin. That makes it not just bad but terrible for Detroit!

None of the players you’re acquiring play in the AHL. Sandin and Niemela both have top 4 potential

Potential does not mean they will make the show. Larkin is flawed as the #1 center but this deal leaves Wings short again at center. Nylander has shown with out a good center he is above average but not great. With retention this makes the deal even worse.

Wow the anti-Leaf stuff is getting ridiculous now. This is bad for Toronto. It wouldn't work anyway because Detroit can't lose a center, but to write off 22 year old Sandin after 88 games, injuries and crappy partners is stupidity. Sandin and Niemela were wjc dmen of the tournament, but no future top 4 chance at all.

True @mikearky, it doesn't mean it's a given but it also doesn't mean nothing and Sandin has already made the show. He has yet to be given a solid chance because of injury and an inept coach. Every other team can be happy with their prospects, but all of ours will automatically suck.

Nobody is harder on the Leafs than me, but it is not all doom and gloom either. There is a lot of talent and someone that watches a game or 2 or reads blogs may not be the expert he or she thinks they are.

Thoughts @Dutchies or am I out to lunch?

This isn’t anti leafs. This is responding to the title “could work for both parties.” It doesn’t work for Detroit.

Sandin will be back in the AHL again before long and Niemela projects as an eventual AHLer too. Leafies aren't fooling anyone but themselves when they insist every undersized shrimp Leaf prospect who put up some points in the minors/junior or played a few games with Toronto because they can't afford anyone better is going to be a top 6 / top 4 player.

I'm really starting to figure out you have no clue what you are talking about man. Seriously lots of small dmen around, but no for you this is a Leafs thing only. You really have no clue and have not ever backed up anything you spew except by saying stuff like "all Leaf fans think all their prospects will be great blah blah " then take a few shots at them...you know like you just did...again.

The part about the juniors is funny because we are not talking about points in junior...but I assume like usual you have to take one of your "cool" shots at Robertson...again because he is clearly part of this conversation.

Neimela projects to be an AHLer... not what the experts are saying but whatever. I guess you need to stick with the stuff you pretend to know.

No i don't think it does either and i mentioned that. I'm referring to the other dude who has no clue about hockey...let alone the Leafs but spends all his time cutting them down.

You've got a seriously bad habit of trolling and flaming everyone who doesn't accept the toronto based media hype around everything to do with the Leafs as gospel.

Try ditching the name calling and personal insults.

Interested in what Dutchies has to say. Don't think the Wings would even consider this.
