Toews wont be moved IMO, they try to keep him and trade Girard.

If the Weegar extension numbers are accurate of 8 years around 6.5m aav. The comp to keep Toews has become much more palatable to the avs cap space

I'm just trying to be conservative. $5m is probably the highest he'd get on a bridge deal, considering that Dobson got $4m x3.

Lol, I didn't mean to do that. Originally I had a Kaut for Bode prospect swap as the first trade but decided to delete it so the focus of the AGM would be the roster and contracts rather than a minor trade. The trade setting was thus already on NYI when I made the Toews trade. Sorry about that.

If Toews only asks for $6.5m then I agree, keep him and move Girard instead and find a way to make the cap work. But I doubt Toews would ask for that little when he can probably get $8m+ on the open market.

Toews will be 30 when he gets a new contract. I think that is a legit possibility he is around 7m vs 9-10m. Look at how hard it was for Kadri to land his big money deal.
I can see it both ways, he gets a Hampus Lindhom or he gets a pietrangelo. Either way he has earned some series money

I don’t think Sakic will trade Toews, he’ll either let him walk or sign him.

    Avs may need the capspace.

Toews brings an element to the Avs D that no one else can fill IMO. He’ll create the space somewhere else. The Avs best chance to win another cup is for the next 2 years so I can’t see Sakic trading him.

If Toews can return a young-ish 2C as a pending UFA then that's a trade you strongly consider.
