Why are we retaining? If you want retention, pay up

Why such excessive and unneeded changes? This team is not better than the current one

Toronto won't retain on Kerfoot, they need all the cap space. And they especially won't retain when the return in a 4th round pick.

nash says no even with retention. we don't need more gritty 4th liners. id rather keep cap space and make a move at the deadline

Even if we did need more gritty 4th liners, there are less expensive options that would cost about the same to trade for

Without acquiring a Top-6 Forward, there's no need to move Lucic and we certainly don't want to be retaining anything on him if we do, we'd just keep & use him ourselves.
Moving Valimaki after Training Camp however for an asset if Mackey or Meloche impresses, makes sense.

I have no problem with Kerfoot if we can get him 50-75% retained = $875k-1.75mil/yr. Wish Kerfoot was Bigger, but he's a good experienced veteran in case Jakob Pelletier (who's much smaller) isn't ready

What would it cost to acquire Kerfoot from TOR, a 5th Round Pick maybe? And then how much would it cost to for a 2nd Team to retain 50% and and a 3rd to retain 25% another 4th + 7th Round Pick? We paid a lot more for Calle Jarnkrok at the Trade Deadline last season and only got him for 3 months. Heck, we paid a 5th for Ryan Carpenter and he did absolutely nothing for us. TOR is in Cap Trouble, we should help them by taking advantage of their situation

Eakin would be good depth, but on a 2-way contract playing in the AHL, not on the 23 man roster

I like Kris Russell but simply don't see a need for him at all. We've got Mackey & Gilbert already and adding anybody else would only take a spot away from developing Kuznetsov, Poirier, Poolman and Solovyov

If Kerfoot doesn't happen, we could try Sonny Milano if he comes cheap OR should PTO Alex Galchenyuk and Jake Virtanen for sure and maybe Lukas Vejdemo and Rocco Grimaldi as well. Victor Rask would have been a good option as well, but he's already agreed to a PTO with CLB, so we'd have to sign him to get him now.

What's the limit on PTO's or how many people can attend Training Camp by the way!?
