Because Hayton needs a change of scenery to finally break out, and pairing him with the Leafs player development staff would make him into a forechecking extraordinaire.

Basically Hayton can be molded into a new Hyman.

Why do folks think the Leafs need Hayden? Leafs are better off just going with Steeves and Robertson and LW....who would make less than Hayden combined, and then keep Hirovan and the 1st.
Kerfoot might have to "gifted" to a team without a return for cap reasons.

If we put Robertson or Steeves on the second line then who's going to forecheck and dig pucks out?

Tavares is one of the best at it, but the biggest issue with the second line last season is that Tavares was doing all the heavy lifting in the corners. The Top 6 needs another Hyman-like workhorse.
