It would take more than a 1st just to dump benn.

He is making 9.5 million for 3 more years and likely will at best be a .5 ppg player. So he is overpaid by atleast 5 million dollars depending on how much more he declines.

Several differences.

Josh scored at a 22 goal es pace the last 2 years. Benn 14.

Josh is 28 years old. Benn is 33. Jamie will decline over the next 3 years josh likely wont.

Josh is one of the best top speed skaters in the league he can provide non point related value to a line. Jamie skating has deteriorated to the point where it has become a issue.

Any trade is forward looking at teams would easily take Anderson over benn going forward with the context of their deals.

I don't see what in for for Dallas...taking those two iffy contracts for one bad contract and giving up a first too. Of course Benn doesn't waive either.

Logic doesn't work here, it's a Leaf fan hating on the Habs. Save your efforts.

If you followed the Dallas Stars at all you would know Robertson is not a centre.

Yeah Benn isn't moving. He's the captain and been there is whole career. Aside from his albatross contract, he has a full NMC. Even if you could find a team willing to take Benn, he'd have full control over where he wants to go.

It’s not à leafs hating on the habs. No matter how you put it, anderson is a one time 20 goal scorer who had a 47 pts once. He’s fast, he’s strong but he’s not a great player like the habs want to portray him. He’s also very injury prone and I doubt a team touches his contract and if team decided to take their chance they wouldn’t offer that much

It’s been reported MTL received several serious offer for Anderson last year at the TDL but Kent Hughes like the player and want to keep him. So you can’t say ‘’if a team would want him (IF lol) they wouldn’t offer much’’ … like bro come on. MTL fans aren’t saying he’s a great player, we are saying it would take a lot to move him because we love the player even if he’s bad defensively & injured prone

Your love for a player has no impact on his value to GMs. Dude makes 5.5M until 26-27, scored 20 goals once and is very often hurt. That says all you need to know

I mean, they both look pretty tough to me. I think you're just a sorry Leaf fan who can't help but insult a player that your team desperately needs.

Exactly this. I don't think Josh Anderson is a great hockey player. He is good, and his highly servicable, but is vastly overpaid (especially in a flat cap world).

Doesn't mean a team won't give up a pile for him. Plenty of teams overpay for meh players if they think it can help them win.

Ben Chiarot got a first, fourth, and a prospect. He isn't a great hockey player. Look at the Jones trade - we all thought Duncan Keith was washed and overpaid - EDM gave up good assets for him. Nick Foligno got a first at the deadline. Christian Dvorak went for a first and a second. Jonathan Drouin got a top prospect and a conditional pick, Brandon Hagel went for a two firsts and two young roster players. Rasmus Ristolainen got a first and a second - it doesn't matter if the player is overpaid, or overrated - it a GM thinks he can help the team win, they overpay all the time

Not anymore. I read the rest of your comments and you actually seem like a pretty reasonable fellow. Apologies for the mis-term.

Yea and how many of them look like mistakes? Also a couple names you’d be dropped were rentals traded at the deadline. Not carrying a huge contract for 5 more years at a crazy caphit for the production he brings. You can try to justify his worth all you want he’s not great and he won’t ever live up to his contract

Not saying he will, I think you're right - but teams always overpay.
