CHI absolutely declines. Your "Blackhawks friend" has no clue what they are talking about. If nothing else, Jones helps CHI hit the cap floor, but he is much more than that. They aren't gonna trade him unless he ASKS FOR A TRADE and has legit value, and they definitely would not be retaining anything on his contract any time soon.

Agree that it’s likely that Jones and Murphy decline, but your last comment is wrong. Miller just resigned in Canada. Same with Boeser, Tkchak in Ottawa… lots of recent examples. I think you’re using a limited sample in Calgary incorrectly to extrapolate to the rest of Canada

Because there are more US teams. The exception is the number of Americans who don’t want to play in Canada. And it’s a little lazy to group all the Canadian teams together. Toronto and Vancouver don’t have the same issues as smaller markets like Ottawa and Winnipeg. Montreal is unique.
