Competitive Rebuild

Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 17, 2022
Published: Sep. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know duclair and monahan are on IR, this is just possible lineup if everyone is healthy
taking a step back with a younger blueline and getting some assets

Trade Explanations

Dubois Trade- Canadiens fans will 100% complain about this trade. Don't forget dubois is only 24 who just had his best season as a center. His value is still pretty high and the canadien rumours are overblown. Chevy isn't just going to bend over and take dvorak and mysk unless hughes takes him to dinner first. Jets are going to want a top prospect and we'll even take on one your trash contracts so you're welcome. I know slafkovsky, caufield, and sukuzi are off limits. So the choice is between Guhle, Barron, or Dach. I think dach's new contract and guhle's leadership qualities makes them off limits. So it's gotta be barron.

Pionk Trade-I like pionk a lot but the defense has to change. Getting a top 6 forward and a young player is equal value for a top pairing offensive defenseman. Cancucks want to go for all offense, so this the cup or bust move. Hoglanders value is down and the canucks have a lot of forwards so this trade works.

Wheeler trade- After stripping him of the captaincy i think he's gotta get traded. He doesn't fit on the team anymore. The panthers are pretty desperate and duclair will be out for msot of the season, plus hornqvist contract is bad that this is equal value. The maurice and wheeler love story continues. Morrissey is probably the next captain unless schiefele shows he cares.

Dillon trade- Not gonna get the value they gave up to get him, but getting at least one of the seconds back is a win. Ducks need defense and have the cap space

Zero reason for Vancouver to do that

If four seasons of 27-year-old Oliver Bjorkstrand, a productive top-6 winger, is worth a third and a fourth, I don't think that two seasons of 32-year-old Brenden Dillon is worth a second and a fourth. You may get a second, and you may get two picks, but I doubt that you get THOSE two picks, especially in light of the fact that Anaheim's second is almost certainly in the top 45.

Other than the Anaheim one, all the deals are bad for the Jets.

after getting Kulikov for free, that has completely solidified the fact that we aren't paying for another defenseman

The Canucks trade favours the Jets pretty heavily. Garland for Pionk is about fair, adding Hoglander and a 4th makes it pretty bad for the Canucks

Yeah, the value favours the Jets but team needs wise it is horrible for Winnipeg. The Jets aren't in a position to trade one of their two right shot defensemen for a couple wingers that are a luxury and not really needed.

Theres no point for the habs to even talk to the Jets. Dubois has already said he is going to free agency in a couple years and MTL is where he wants to go. Why would they bugger up a rebuild for a guy they can have for free in 2 years?

Also If Monahan is as healthy as he claims he is then its way more worth it for the habs to run with him and then sell him at the deadline.

Anaheim doesn't need another LD after Kulikov, no reason to give up any second for him, but if we did it would be Colorado's. Dillon doesn't see the other side of our rebuild if we acquire him, so why buy?

It's time for jets fans to realize that they should come up with PLD trades to other teams because montreal ain't paying even half of that

Easy no from montrea. We will just sign him as UFA in 2 years thanks. We don’t need him this year or next

I really like Pionk but he isn't a top pair dman, that's too much from Vancouver for him.

Getting Dvorak would be WAY better than Monahan, won't be surprised if the eventual Dubois return will be worse than a lot of the proposed Dubois to Montreal trades that have been on here.

Would really like to see Wheeler moved on from but I doubt he's going anywhere till next offseason at the earliest.

As Ducks fans have said they already got Kulikov for free so why would they pay for Dillon, they also have former Jet fan favorite Nate Beaulieu on a PTO so they could just sign him to be a #6/7 dman.

That and this trade doesnt factor in the cap. They have no room for him in 2023 if the Jets arent taking a cap dump. Monahan is a UFA. Even if you thought the trade was fair, they dont have the cap space so its laughable! Ppl forget constantly that Bjorsktrand was given away for free, almost, because of cap gymnastics. Trading for PLD would mean having to pay to dump Hoffman (Nyqvist price was a 1st in CBJ) That wont happen so that means they would have to dump a useful player. Just not possible.

They don't!
They will still be in LTIR.
Caufield needs a new deal, starting goalie and another top4 RHD they need to sign with just 18 million, and without counting all the bonus overages. Its very tight til the cap goes up and some contracts like Hoffman run out in 2024.

Ya..... no.

Guhle will be on the roster full time so that 17. Between edmundson savard matheson barron harris guhle wideman they have their 7d easily. They wont be bringing in a top 4 dman unless one of edmundson mathespn or savard is leaving

Caufield is the only rfa of note. 18

Price is on ltir if needed which easily makes the number 25+ million to work with even after bonus overages.

The habs will be intergrating multiple ELCs into the lineup over the next couple years they will have a bunch of money to work with

You are missing the point and disagreeing to disagree. PLD has no room on this team when you have Suzuk-Dach-Dvorak down the middle. If they arent trading Dach then Dvorak would have to go!

Man, you are never able to vouch for the Jet's to accept a trade unless it's a ridiculous overpayment
