Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 18, 2022
Published: Sep. 18, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Stevie Y just had himself a hell of an offseason! He improved the forward group by signing Copp, Kubalik and Perron which should help their scoring. The defense should be a bit better but Ben Chiarot is not the answer and on top of that he may have been the worst signing out of everyone in free agency along with Gudbransson. And while Ville Husso will improve the goaltending, that’s too much money for one good year, but the term is okay. This team is in a very good position with lots of cap space for future signings, and in a few years should be among the best in the division.

Key additions: Copp, Perron, Kubalik, Maatta, Chiarot, Husso, Hagg, Pysyk
Key losses: Staal, Greiss
Leader in Goals: Tyler Bertuzzi
Leader in Points: Dylan Larkin

Rookies: Simon Edvinsson, Jonatan Berggren
Breakout Candidate: Lucas Raymond

I sure hope it's veleno centering that 4th line, I don't need to see Erne every night.

This defense is just so bad. Yzerman is getting praised for giving out a bunch of money to 3rd liners and giving one of the worst defenseman in the league a 4 year contract. I don’t get it.

Perron last year was almost a ppg guy. I think that is a pretty good signing. Kubalik is a former 30 goal scorer who dropped off with the team. Still very capable of easily putting up 20+ goals this year with a low risk 2 year 2.5M contract I would consider that a really good signing. Copp is a very versatile player who will fill the 2C roll until someone else can slot in there then likely play 3C or 2W. Contract came in around what was predicted, I would say that was a pretty good signing. Maatta is a nice defensive defenceman who should help play in our own end and really help someone like Hronek find his game, on a cheap one year deal, really good signing. Chiarot though on the other hand, never been a fan of that pylon, the money is fine but the term is not good in my opinion. If he just sits back and let's Seider take the reigns on that top pairing he should be ok. Still not a fan of that signing. All in all Yzerman did alot of really good things this offseason to help the team now.
