Wouldn’t trade Podkolzin for Hanifin. We just don’t need him and Podkolzin is hopefully a Canuck for life

Flames get the better value, but neither Team has a strong need for any these players. CGY has Dube & Kadri and VAN has Ekholm & Hughes already. Flames would be more interested in Garland, but VAN probably shouldn't Trade any of their Right Shot RW's

I don't think VAN & CGY are good Trade Partners. I was looking at moving Russian Prospect Ilya Nikolayev to VAN for one of their prospects, but couldn't come up with anything that made sense. I like Arshdeep Bains, but I highly doubt he, nor the Canucks organization, want to part ways

Is it worth trading our captain and future #1 winger? If Hanifin was an RHD then I would offer Garland but not Horvat or Podz

I think that all depends if horvat is coming back or not.

This is amazing for Calgary. They have Zadorov, Kylington, Weegar and Valimaki who can all play the left side. Canucks get another left D, something they don't need, while trading away they best young player and an amazing 2C. Calgary trades away a defence man, something they have an excess of, and gets two very good forwards, something they need.

Huh? Hanifin is the most valuable piece in the trade. Not sure what pointing out Calgary's LD depth does when they clearly don't need centers either

Good 2C value > good 2nd pair LHD value.

Podkolzin’s value depends how you feel about his potential, I’m high on him and wouldn’t move him for Hanifin personally (also partly because he’s a LHD that isn’t a need for the Canucks)

2nd pairing D? That's troll. He's a top 25 dman in the league.

50 point 1st pairing 2-way dman with 2 years of term > 60 point 2-way 2C with 1 year remaining

Pod definitely makes the value in a vacuum favor the Flames bit you clearly underappreciate the effect Hanifin has

While the value is debatable, Horvat as our captain, and Podkolzin's incredibly high ceiling is more valuable than adding another LHD, especially when they will likely be in the shadow of Quinn Hughes

He’s been close to 50 points once in his career. He’s been more of a 25-30 point dman. He’s a good player, but for the Canucks Horvat and Podz probably have more value to them than Hanifin would

I agree on the value, I said that in the 3rd paragraph of the post you just quoted.

However you still undervalue Hanifin a lot. He's simply worth more than Bo in a vacuum. And he will almost certainly be a ~50 dman moving forward for a while

I meant individually Horvat and Podz each have more value to the Canucks. Trading for Hanifin forces one of him/Hughes/OEL to play on their off side, which isn’t ideal. Keeping Horvat gives us flexibility to run 3 great centers, and Podz is a valuable ELC player with very high upside

You can't be serious. Both Horvat and Podkolzin are individually worth more than Hanifin to the Canucks

Technically they don't need centres cause they have Lindholm, Kadri and Backlund who have the ability to play centre, but their wings could be improved on with Toffoli and Mangiapane and Coleman, Coleman being the weak link. They could switch lindholm to right wing and have Hub-Kadri-Lindholm, Mangiapane-Horvat-Toffoli, Coleman-Backlund-Dube.
