Okay, you're obviously done with Foegele & Barrie lol.

BUF might take Foegele for Future Considerations and OTT might pay something, but OTT would also have to dump Zaitsev... Maybe there's a Trade that includes both between EDM & OTT, with OTT adding of course. But I like the 7th RD Pick coming back if you're giving one up, Smart!

Sprong & Rask will likely only give you 1 year contracts, hoping to bounce back and get a pay day next off-season and PK Subban will likely cost at least $2.25-2.5mil/yr and same thing, for 1 season only

Rask signed a PTO with Columbus. Unlikely he makes the team, but he’s not technically a free agent at the moment.

I believe you can sign players on PTOs with other teams. I seem to recall Kris Versteeg getting signed by Calgary when he was on a PTO with Edmonton. Sprong is on a PTO with Seattle too.
Technically, the Versteeg signing may have taken place after training camp was over, but reports came out during training camp that he was close to signing.

Edmonton was trying to sign him, but he chose to sign with Calgary instead as he had a better chance of playing higher up the lineup in Calgary.

replacing Barrie with PK makes the defence worse.
In the current market 30+ year old 4th line players should not be signed for more than $850k per. Janmark, Ryan, & Rask are all overpaid on a team that is desperate for as much cap space as they can get.

Poor asset management. Trading 2 years of Barrie as if he's a cap dump is bad enough, but then you turn around and overpay PK and give him a 3 year contract?!

Are you sure about that? Subban played more minutes at 5v5 than Barrie, so that's a pretty good proxy for the quality of competition being harder and he scored more points and had better underlying metrics than Barrie on a much worse team. Subban had less O-zone starts and more neutral and D-zone starts than Barrie. More hits and blocks, and less net giveaways than Barrie. Besides the PP, which Subban has been great in the past, I don't think Barrie is the better D. If you put Subban behind McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, and one of Kane, Hyman, or Puljujarvi, he might perform just as well as Barrie. And It could save $2-$3M.

Barrie 1.42 Giveaways

Barrie 3.65

I would bet your ‘give-a-****-meter’ plays (hits, blocked shots, takeaways, etc) would even be higher for Subban if he was playing on a contender last season rather than a bottom feeder. And less for Barrie if he wasn’t on a contender.

Maybe Rask is a bit high. I didn't sign Janmrak or Ryan, however, haha, so not much choice there. Funny, I had them all at a much lower cap hit and still had $2.2M in cap space, so I went back and raised them all as an exercise to see how much they could spend. Of course, if I was negotiating, I'd still try to sign them for the minimum. I had Rask below $1M, and Subban at $1.75M. Maybe it should be less and a 1yr or even 2yr for Subban. not sure what he is expecting to get. It looks like nobody is willing to pay what he's asking for yet.

Again, Barie is not the type of RD the Sens need. They need someone who is big and very good defensively
