He was doing so with a slight dip at one point. It's not like his career has been up and down offensively

No it has exactly been that way points per 82
21/22 41
20/21 28.9
19/20 53.4
18/19 27.6
17/18 40
Up down up down and he's on the wrong side of 30 so expecting him to stay on the up swing is more hope than data driven reality. Most players aren't more productive at 30/32 than 27/29 that's just a fact.

Like I've said, no reason to believe he can't put up 35-40 points this season or next. 2018-19 was the year he moved around a lot, and 2020-2021 was the covid shortened year

Bulls*** excuses points per 82 takes in for shortened season. Up and down and over 30. Keep him. Getting traded is part of the business so it's up to him to do his job and 27 (not 37 like you claim) points in 80 games isn't doing it .

You've exemplified nothing but petty arrogance for no good reason

Petty arrogance for stating facts instead going on I like him and my theory is he'll play better . I'll stick using historical patterns and statisticall analysis over gut feelings any day .

You have not given one rational reason to explain why he'll be a 40+ guy . All you got is I think he'll score that. Could it happen? Yes. Is it more likely given his track record and age he regresses? Yes.

It sounds to me like you have an agenda to downplay the valuations of non-lightning players based on your tone of voice

When facts are against you argue feelings is your motto obviously. I just think TB would be better off letting Vancouver keep Pearson and keeping the third.

I never said they wouldn't, just that I wouldn't sell Pearson for a 3rd WITHOUT retention

Even with the retention I still think TB is better off keeping the 3 . Their draft picks are decimated they need to replenish them not go after another 30 something. They can win with what they have.

Uh, they don't have Palat or McDonagh anymore. I mean I like Ian Cole and Vlad Namestnikov, but those are obvious downgrades

Haha, wouldn't be the first time somebody made a more accurate projection by trusting their own gut

A little cap is what it is still a 105 point team. And that allowed them to keep the young RFAs Sergachev, Cernak, and Cirelli

It does, not saying the team won't still get 100+ points in the regular season, especially if they have a bit of a chip on their shoulder from last seasons championship defeat. Pardon me if I'm a little skeptical about the Lightning's contention window since their core is only getting more expensive and forcing them to shed key supporting cast members. Killorn is probably gone after next season. Colton might have to be traded. Cap doesn't shoot up until 2024, by which time Hagel will be due for a pay raise.

I think it would be dumb for the lightning to do so. Adding a 30 year old with inconsistent meh production isn't the answer

I agree the probably won't, just saying the Canucks won't move the player for anything less
