oilers obviously decline. barrie is a much better player than hoffman. you'd have to change it to evans or pitlick to make it fair.

many people around the league see the one vs one been correct. Btw if you are to counter you need to understand the habs cap space :P !! Both Hoffman and Barrie are PP specialist with defensive zone coverage liability !! So you might find the guy better but playing with McDavid and Draisaitl will complement a guy like Hoffman :PP !!

The Oilers would be trading Barrie to free up cap space. This swap does not do that. not to mention, trading Barrie creates an open spot on their RHD that they would need to fill... again this swap doesnt do that.

Oh, the irony tears of joy

If you're going to make an offer, you need to understand the Oilers' needs and cap space- neither of which have even been considered here.

with Smith and Klefbom out they seem okay and they still can move Puljujarvi for a younger prospect !

Kulak Koekkek and Bear can all take advantage to play on the right side ans help that d-corp to be able to play in the d-zone where Barrie is a liability! I understand your wish to free cap space but I presviously said both Smith and Klefbom out for this year can help to free that space and perhaps moving Puljujarvi!

lol what year are you currently in? Bear is no longer an Oiler.
Even with Smith & Klefbom on LTIR the Oilers still dont have the cap space to ice a 23 man roster. Koekkoek wont even sniff the press box this yr let alone play regular minutes.
Highly unlikely Holland trades both Barrie & PJ in the same season....

The point of moving Barrie or Puljujarvi is to only have to move one of them in order to address the cap issues. Both are solid, mid-roster NHL players that a team with aims to contend is better off keeping.

Except your GM mode involves downgrading quite significantly at multiple positions (Foegele > Watson, Puljujarvi > Hoffman, Donato is a fringe player, and Barrie > Borgen) and making the forward group more one-dimensional. You also forgot to sign McLeod.

I counter your proposal with a far more useful one for EDM: Drouin (50% retained) for Barrie, Lavoie, and a 3rd. This is still not ideal but achieves a goal for EDM while still fitting their needs to some extent- assuming they can sign someone like Stralman afterwards.

i like your offer. I might be downgrading somehow, but I help down the line to make playoff, McLeod I didn'T check that you had someone to sign (didn't pay attention my bad again). But at least it work. On other hand consistancy is the real deal in my trade here. All those players produce or play to their full profiency while Foeggle and Puljujarvi struggle. I know it's not the best to sometime downgrade but you can add by suppression ... even if it seem illogical.

I would advise you go through each players' splits through the year before asserting that they're more consistent- particularly those of Hoffman and Watson.

The addition by subtraction argument isn't incorrect in general but, in this case, it also really doesn't apply without a more cogent argument behind it. The best argument for 'downgrading' from players like Barrie is to replace them with more responsible, lower-variance players. However, you don't really achieve that with Hoffman or Donato nor by plugging Koekkoek into the lineup and, while he showed well last year in a limited role, Borgen is a rather unproven piece.

I hope this is all understood as constructive feedback and discussion and not as a wholesale condemnation.
