Just accept the facts. Horvat has always been deployed in unfavourable positions. He is better suited as a scoring center and not a shutdown one. There is a reason Benning acquired Jason Dickinson to take defensive duties off of Horvat

Horvat is still capable of winning matchups when pitted against other team's top players. I get that he's not a Patrice Bergeron/Phillip Danault type of shutdown center, but he is capable of more than just scoring

I dont know what to tell you. I already posted his WAR and xG stats and they say otherwise. Believe what you want

Yes, I think your assessment of the stats is slightly inaccurate

I'm quite intrigued on what caused Horvat's even strength offensive WAR to be so low. I know he scored a lot on the powerplay but he seems oddly low compared to other seasons.

Im not sure. His 5v5 P/60 is pretty close to previous seasons so it could just be a linemates/chemistry thing. If his linemates produce more when playing with guys like Miller/Pettersson but Horvat doesnt produce as much when put with Miller/Pettersson then the model may think Horvat is the problem

I am willing to bet his WAR improves this coming season from having Bruce Boudreau behind the bench for a full season, as well as having consistent linemates
