Hoffman in a trade for Barrie and Dvorak in a trade for Dumba makes way more sense than this. Detroit definitely wouldn’t give Hronek for Dadonov.

That might be a move. Could eat half of Holl's salary and move him for a third at the deadline

Ethan Bear could be had for the low price of taking on Jake Gardiner’s contract.

#1 is a Cap dump for young player with solid upside.
#2 is a Cap dump+1st in 2025 (!!!) for top 4 RD.
#3 is probably the least-bad one.

Minnie doesn't have the cap space to waste it on Hoffman. Detroit doesn't need Daddy and Hronek is young. Edmonton wants to spend their space and picks on a big fish like Kane or Tarasenko at the deadline, not waste it on a center when they already have 3 good ones.

Edmonton and Minnesota would probably only trade those players in a deal involving a significant reduction in cap (because they have other alternatives), and the Oilers barely get any cap relief there while the Wild would want to get more than $1.5 million for a top-4 RhD and Hoffman isn't a good fit with them, anyway. As insightfully suggested by @Dom1422, Dvorak with $1.5 million retention and the Florida first for Dvorak is a deal that Minnesota might consider.

Hronek for Dadonov is a non-starter.

Sorry but a cap dump in Dadonov, is nowhere near close getting you Filip Hronek.

Understood but what is a reasonable trade if Detroit would accept taking Dadonov

Hronek is nearly a .05 PPG RHD at minimum he should net us either 2 2nd round picks or a 2nd and B prospect. Taking Dadonov off your hands would be extra.

Dvorak for Barrie might have some legs, but Edmonton isn't adding.

Past 3 years, all strengths
Barrie: 199, 20-108-128 (0.64 P/GP)
Dvorak: 182, 46-56-102 (0.56)

Barrie, a defenseman, provides more offense than Dvorak does. Edmonton has plenty of options at 3C and few at RHD and they need to reduce their overall cap charge, so seeing as this trade doesn't help Edmonton in any way I don't see them accepting even a 1-for-1 offer. They most certainly aren't adding a 1st! laugh

What you forgot to say is that Dvorak wins 60% of faceoffs something of great value in the playoffs when you are trying to win games. I guess you like to over value your players

Ok help me out why does Detroit have to take Dadonov? They aren't a playoff team yet and he is 33yrs old and Detroit has plethora forwards. I honestly don't see Dadonov coming to Detroit at all.

Derek Ryan wins 60% of his faceoffs too... doesn't mean he has great value. Dvorak would be 3C at best, he isn't playing ahead of McDavid, Draisaitl or Nugent-Hopkins (who sometimes plays LW), and Edmonton has McLeod and Holloway pushing for playing time too. There's simply no motivation for them to trade Barrie for a C/L who makes similar money.

I wouldn't take Dadonov off Montreal's hands for anything less than their 2023 2nd round pick. Otherwise not interested in helping a division rival's cap situation.
