Carolina doesn’t really need left wing depth lol. And certainly not at that price.

The Canes have no need for LW depth since they signed Stastny. They’re not taking on a cap dump in a trade for Bear.

Try again.

Pearson's actually good at hockey, not just a cap dump...Bear can't even crack the lineup

Pearson makes more than Bear and RD is a premium position. To CAR, he’s a cap dump.

Again, try again.

Wow you really think they'll get a 1st or 2nd rounder for a guy who might be non-tendered next summer...that's completely irrational

Please point out where I said he’d return a 1st or 2nd.

Time to use your reading comprehension skills there chief.

Pearson makes more money because he is a better player. Shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp

What benefit do the Canes get by trading Bear for a more expensive player that they have no need for?

That shouldn’t be too hard to grasp.

Considering he got taken out of the lineup due to injuries and Covid, you can’t exactly make that argument. Besides, Pearson is only good for about 40 points if you are lucky. Since he likely would be playing on the 4th line in Vancouver according to Daily Faceoff, he won’t even hit 40 this year. And for arguments sake, if he was sent to Carolina, he would either be on the 4th line or the 16F when Patches comes back. Canes can’t afford to tie up 3mil on a healthy scratch. So he is a cap dump, and Canes shoot this offer down instantly. Besides, Canes have no need for LW depth with the Stastny signing.

Injuries happen all the time. Having depth is a good thing for a team wanting to make a cup run. They have the space to take on an additional $1 million. The Canucks are giving up a draft pick for the Canes to take on that space (if you want to bump it to a 2nd, fine). I fail to see how this trade hurts the Canes at all.

They don’t really have the space, even with Gardiner to LTIR, they can barely fit Pacioretty in when he’s ready. That’s w/o the headache of finding a place for Pearson to pay then and now on top of having to clear $1M in space to activate Pacioretty in February. They don’t have to do anything if they keep Bear.

Taking on Pearson at $3M plus a pick gives them zero incentive to make a deal with Vancouver. Just send a pick and the Canucks will have to sort out their cap issues on their own.

Pearson is a perennial 40 point player, there is no "luck" to it

Canucks will probably pick up a RHD after rosters are set and waivers are going on.

I would not give up much for Bear maybe a 4 th or 5 th only. He is another Troy Stecher and they are not that difficult to find.

Yes because hitting 40 points 3 times in 9 seasons where he played in the regular season is “perennial”. Sure buddy.

Looks like a pretty reasonable track record to me, considering the player has bounced around a little bit plus endured the covid seasons

Where would he play in CAR’s lineup? Why would they trade a cheaper RD for a more expensive player they don’t need?

Don’t be ridiculous.

When did I mention age? It isn't like either of them would be staying long term in Carolina anyway

Stastny has vastly outperformed Pearson, even with his age. He’s more versatile and signed for half the price.

Try again.

Maybe not, but with Stastny there is a major age related risk factor. That risk doesn't exist with Pearson, hence why he makes more money

How did he outperform Pearson? They scored at about the same pace last year. The only reason Stastny costs half as much is because he's older

Stastny 21 goals 45 points. Pearson isn't taking his spot
