Have to consider that Nils is ELC still and Sandin wants well over 2M for a bridge or a solid pay for longer term. I’d say it’s not far off from the same value of return. Otherwise it could be players/prospects in return

Honestly it may be less considering Lundkvist has 2 years of term while Sandin is an RFA who can be offersheeted for less than the return NYR got for Nils. If Sandin had a contract, it would probably be a decent middle six forward and a draft pick

Sandin will have to accept an OS if he cares more about being paid and not playing in the playoffs, then he should be fine joining a team like the Coyotes or Hawks. Most playoffs teams (maybe even all) don't have any cap space to throw $4M at him. If someone offers him a $2M OS, the Leafs will be able to match

Nah, they have pretty much nothing else in the pipeline after Sandin and two of their three current LD's (Muzzin and Gio) are on their last legs.

Based on the Lundkvist trade, 1st (top 3-5 protected) and 3rd for Sandin and Kerfoot or Engvall if cap space is still needed. If solely for Sandin, a 1st and a conditional pick that could become pretty good over time, maybe all the way up to a 2nd.

There is literally nothing to say he wants 2+. The rumor is he wants more playing time.

He turned down 1.7M( doesn’t take rocket science to figure out he wants more money and time than Lilj) but ya, if you need him to do a press release saying that then we are SOL.

As if an unproven young RD can get that Sandin who can play both LD and RD should get the same or heck more

Where was that reported? He was offered the same deal Liljegren was offered and nothing has happened since. My guess is a deal is already agreed upon and it's either a waiting game for an injury or for a different move. Either way Sandin isn't going anywhere. He's going to be a major player for TO as early as next year.

What reports? I haven't seen anything concrete. Just fools spouting speculation like it's the truth. Or is it just funny guys on here who say it and now everyone just believes it. Like how TO has a terrible defence despite literally zero evidence to prove that.

I dont want anything to do with Formenton until the TC investigation is done and hes proven innocent

But even then I dont want Sandin going to a divisional rival

He apparently is eyeing the Boqvist deal 2.6mill x 3 years. After seeing Durzi sign 1.7 x 2years yeah thats the max im giving

You just answered your own question. As what if Dubas trades for Formenton and hes proven guilty we just gave away Sandin for nothing. As I said before that trade spells bad news and besides trading with an interdivisional rival makes no sense

In general Sandin has 0 grounds to ask for that

Either take what Dubas offered or sit out

Probs gonna drag this out till Dec knowing Gross

Also relating to injuries apparently Engvall might miss some time according to Serevalli

I like what you said about what "Sandin wants". What a player wants...and what a player will sign for, two entire different things.
It's like (Habs) fans saying teams were offering 1st rounders for Josh Anderson. Or any trade for that matter, fans don't know what was offered.

Genuinely curious from Toronto fans, is Sandin a PLD lite? I haven't seen or heard anything about him being bad in the locker room or making demands (like ice time/special teams) during last season. Is he a headache? Or is this just simply the perfect storm of his contract/roster size/finances?
