Drury had no leverage and got a 1st in a stacked draft for a guy who wasn't making the team. Fantastic for the Rangers

The Rangers still got value for him, eh? Thought him going public with his trade request killed any value he had.

Rangers traded a distressed asset for more than his market value. Even if Nils turns out to be a decent NHL player, this is a landslide victory for them on this deal.

I'm okay with this. Is it an overpay? Yes. But if Lundkvist is as good as he's been hyped up to be this could work out well for Dallas.

Steal for Dallas

They got "the next Erik Karlsson" for only a protected first

Fleece job by Drury. That pick easily could be 12th OA in an insane class (2023).

Love the pickup by Dallas, but there’s some big risk here.

What in the f*** is Nill smoking?

Even if Lundqvist becomes a top 4 defender, he's definitely not worth that right now considering everyone knows he won't play in New York, and somehow New York got more assets than what they used to draft him. Yikes

Drury did good. Too bad NYR don't have the cap space for the deadline ($4.5M) to make a splash. Probably will make 2 first round picks this year.

Lundkvist will fit in for Klingberg leaving but he didn't show that much in his time in New York. I feel Dallas will miss the playoffs by the hair so I am really liking this trade.

I really like the bet on Lundkvist and I love the fit with dallas even more but I feel like they could have done this cheaper. Id be very hesitant to move out of the 2023 draft 1st round as it looks so crazy good all the way through.

Anyway decent edge to the rags on value but still a decent trade for Dallas I think.

Lundkvist has done absolutely nothing in the last 4 years to prove he's still worth a 1st round pick.

New York Rangers win the trade.

Very rarely do you see an unproven player who has demanded a trade get a return this good. Could turn out decent for DAL, but I dont love trading picks for prospects

Drury said he wasn't gonna take anything less for him. Either they pay for him or we just keep him and let him rot in the system.

With how deep this years draft will be that pick could become a very good player so rangers win this trade IMO.

As a Rangers fan I’m in love with this. I thought it would be a 2nd and a maybe a prospect. Not a first and a fourth. Rangers win easily

Pretty bold considering he had no leverage in this deal.
