Rangers traded a distressed asset for more than his market value. Even if Nils turns out to be a decent NHL player, this is a landslide victory for them on this deal.
Even if Lundqvist becomes a top 4 defender, he's definitely not worth that right now considering everyone knows he won't play in New York, and somehow New York got more assets than what they used to draft him. Yikes
Drury did good. Too bad NYR don't have the cap space for the deadline ($4.5M) to make a splash. Probably will make 2 first round picks this year.
Lundkvist will fit in for Klingberg leaving but he didn't show that much in his time in New York. I feel Dallas will miss the playoffs by the hair so I am really liking this trade.
I really like the bet on Lundkvist and I love the fit with dallas even more but I feel like they could have done this cheaper. Id be very hesitant to move out of the 2023 draft 1st round as it looks so crazy good all the way through.
Anyway decent edge to the rags on value but still a decent trade for Dallas I think.
Very rarely do you see an unproven player who has demanded a trade get a return this good. Could turn out decent for DAL, but I dont love trading picks for prospects
