That’s why it’s better to keep him. He brings more value to us by playing than in a trade. He had a textbook sophomore slump so there is no reaSon to trade him when his value is at an all time low

I think you will be disappointed

The time for us to take a chance on Holl was before Gudbranson was signed. Now we do not have the expendable cap space or the roster room.

Eh, I dunno. Sandin is due for a contract above league min while Hoglander has one more year remaining on his ELC

Hoglander is EXTREMELY skilled, he just doesn't have particularly high hockey sense

Canucks would have the cap to sign him around the 1.5 I think he's after. It'd be an option is all. Right now Hoglander is probably penciled in on the 4th line.

He just can't shoot is what I see his main flaw as. I think he can play in the top 6 with his skill, puck protection, aggression though. And if the shot develops he could be an all star.

Nope, Hoglander is going to be a decent 3rd line player with limited offence but could be a good energy defensive forward if he develops properly. Sandin is already at the very least a high end 3rd pair defender with the skill and pedigree to play a top 4 role. He just happens to be on a really good team that prevents him from playing that role.

Hoglander has all star upside if he develops. If he doesn't maybe he turns into a secondary scorer. Doubt he would ever be a defensive player given his size and skill level though.

Hoglander definitely needs to work on his shot. I must admit my instincts tell me that he will be sent down to Abbotsford before he gets assigned a spot on the 4th line

Then I would think he's going to be a bust. As other Canuck fans have mentioned, he doesn't have much hockey sense and that just isn't something that can be taught. If he can't be an energy defensive depth guy, he won't last in the league.

He has decent hockey sense. His shot isn't the greatest and he shot at like a 6% success rate which is very low and should bounce back up. The reason he was so bad last year is because he was trying too hard to play flashy, he kind of ignored the other aspects of his game. I think his poor performance should be a wakeup call for him.

Or it's just who he is. Hopefully he pans out. I get a strong Kapanen vibe from Hoglander but less skilled.

I've actually never heard anyone say he doesn't have hockey sense. Certainly wouldn't be my take. He led the WJC in scoring a few yrs ago as one of the smaller players. And he showed his rookie yr he can handle the NHL. He does have room to develop. By no means is he a bust though. Genuine NHLer already and I could see him developing into a Marchessault level player.

At the very best. I don't think he's going to pan out as well as many seem to think.

No, he's looked very good but he's stuff behind guys who are currently better than him. It happens when you are a young guy on a deep team. He'll get his chances.

Wow, what a throwaway statement

Pretty pointless comment. Kapanen is all speed not much skill. Hoglander has a lot of skill, but just needs to figure out how to put it all together. Not comparable players in the first place

Hoglander is in the same situation and you are calling him a bust though. Then again you think Hoglander is going to be a defensive forward so we can safely say you don't know what you're talking about on this one. His defensive game is the reason he's not a top 6 player.

I don't think he's a busy necessarily but a future Allstar is a major stretch. Which is what canuck fans on here are arguing.

I said his ceiling is that. It's obviously unlikely given how elite that is but he has a lot of incredible skills you don't see in most players. I wouldn't say that about Podkolzin for instance, despite him having much more clout league wide. I would be fairly shocked if he didn't turn into at least a 2nd line winger though.
