Sabres more than likely aren't giving up assets for kane. If he wants to come home, he'll sign in FA

Oilers don't need a center but maybe if you replace Holloway with a different prospect they could make a deal for Murphy?

Toews ain't worth a top prospect and a 1st. In fact, I'd be reluctant to pay even one of those assets.

Oilers have their allotted amount of Connor's, NHL won't allow it.

Sorry but Buffalo isn't the 4th best team in the Atlantic, They will finish 7th just over Montreal. Kane isn't waiving and Buffalo isn't giving up assets yet.

Zero chance of Toews landing a 1st round pick, If you noticed he's been sucking quite a bit here lately. Best pick might be a 2nd but no way he's returning no 1st round pick.

Agree with all except that there being no chance that Toews returns just a 1st, there is always a chance for a bounce back but even as there could be a team that pays a first for his defense, playoff pedigree, and playoff clutch factor.

Would also add that there's no way the Oilers trade Holloway assuming like he's NHL ready (and so far it seems like he could make the team). His ELC is way too valuable.

You probably didnt watch much in the 2nd half of the season then. 2nd half Toews was kinda beastmode last year and carried us, assumedly after he fully acclimated back from his injuries and condition. Definitely doesn't have that value at the moment, but at the deadline if he keeps up his 2nd half production I could see him getting a late 1st.

Id be suprised if any team gave up that much for a couple months of Kane. The first is fine, the high end prospects arent going to be available, even if the Sabres are in the hunt. Weissbach, Mittelstadt, Rousek, Huglen are all negotiable imo

Buffalo will finish over MTL and Det. Buffalo Ottawa and Boston will be within a handful of points of each other

Probably true. But if we are wrong, better odds for Bedard.

Sure, but this isn't that - he's asked for a top prospect who is worth more than a late 1st and another player as well. In addition, Edmonton won't be the team giving up their late first for Toews - they have plenty of center depth and they've never, ever traded a 1st for a rental. Neither has Ken Holland.

That's not a great take at all. Toews could definitely land a late 1st and worse a 2nd. While this AGM proposal is way too much, your comments around Toews sucking is only demonstrative of you not watching him and also not understanding the long covid situation he was going through. That said, he will land elsewhere, but to say Toews isn't worth a late 1st and that he sucks is just a bad take.

Which is why I prefaced that saying "definitely doesnt have that value at the moment"

I'll bet you that buffalo finishes better than 7th.

Kane would waive if they are in the hunt. But buffalo will not spend high assets

IDK where Buffalo will finish, but I will be absolutely shocked if Buffalo is not in the hunt at the TDL.
They may still finished 7th because the Atlantic is very competitive, but 90 pts is not out of the question.
They finished the last two months 16-9-3.
Nineteen games were against playoff teams Florida, Florida, Florida, Carolina, Carolina, Toronto, Toronto, Toronto, Los Angeles, Calgary, Rangers, Tampa Bay, St. Louis Boston, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Washington, Nashville, and Minnesota compiling an 8-9-2 against those playoff teams.
If we include Las Vegas who were fighting for a playoff spot, the Sabres were 9-9-2 during the 28 game stretch against top teams.
Adding Comrie, Lyubushkin, Power and Quinn while dropping only Miller, Pysyk, Hagg, Butcher, Dell and Houser should make the team perform better.
I am certainly one of the most optimistic Sabre fan, but last end of season performance against quality teams indicated they are up to the task and will surprise many pundits.
Below is the record of the 3rd GK for each playoff team. ONLY Toronto, Dallas and Vegas back up GK’s had more than 10 decisions.
Panthers 0-2-0
Colorado 4-2-2
Carolina 4-1-1
Toronto 11-6-1
Minnesota 0-0-0
Calgary 0-0-0
Rangers 1-1-0
Tampa 1-1-0
St. Louis 6-1-1
Boston 2-0-0
Edmonton 0-0-0
Pittsburgh 1-1-0
Washington 1-2-1
Los Angeles 1-0-0
Dallas 6-5-4
Nashville 1-2-0
Vegas 10-9-3
Buffalo 5-15-4
Buffalo’s third GK’s had 24. If the GK’s can stay healthy, who knows how the season could have played out.

There's a point to be made here about the sabres winning games after being eliminated. I don't think that's the case here- dahlin and Samuelsson were paired together late, Anderson came back, power showed up, tuch and Krebs contributed.

So playing well against teams that were scratching for points is a bad thing?
Power only played in 8 of those 28 games, while Quinn, Peterka, Lyubushkin and Comrie were not on the team.
Remove the 5-15-4 record of their 3rd, 4th and 5th GK, from their 32-39-8 would give them a 27-24-4 winning record.
I stand by my 90 pt prediction.
