I heard they are trying to do a Bridge deal in the 5-6 mil range for 2-4 years then throw big dollars at him.
3 year 18 mil deal would be wise to me. gets you through Sequins and Suters deal and then give him the Brinks truck!

Keep in mind where he plays/lives. $8M goes a lot further in Dallas than $8.35M goes in Ottawa or $8.125M goes in St. Louis.

A bridge deal is certainly the more preferential deal right now. I built this out more so to see what things looked like if Dallas gave him the 8-year deal worth more money. Really a “worst case scenario” kind of ACGM in terms of money.

My guess is that Robertson is now asking for a bridge deal around 8M$.

I am not saying he will get it but I am pretty sure that's his demands.

If he was asking for 7M$ bridge deal, he would be sign by now.

He may be asking for $8M, but the Stars hold the leverage. From a business perspective, they have no reason to cave and meet him at an $8M bridge deal. He has no arbitration rights, is 3 offseasons away from being a UFA, and has to sign by December if he wants to play this year.

Stars have the biggest part of the leverage but not all the leverage. This dude scored 18% of the goals last year. That's leverage.

My guess now is that he will sign a one year deal and we will have to start this process all over again next year.

Okay, he scored 18% of the goals for Dallas last season. Stars still hold all the leverage. Sure, Dallas misses a top scorer, but Robertson would be sitting at home without a paycheck. Dallas sits long enough and Robertson's camp will be forced to lower his demands if he wants to play and get paid this season. Just like with Oettinger, Nill is playing these negotiations very well so far.
