Columbus shouldn't be trading that pick.

Sorry but i disagree, Yzerman would easily give Larkin 8 x $9,500,000 to keep his Captain. Doesn't really matter because Bertuzzi will be gone so Yzerman can always give Larkin a little bit extra.

Columbus won't be able to afford Larkin long term, It's already been reported that Larkin wants $10,000,000+ on the open market. Columbus only has $13,000,000 to sign 6 players and Larkin would eat 90% of Columbus's salary cap. Yzerman and Larkin will get a deal done. Hopefully before the NHL season begins in 24 days.

FYI Marek and Friedman interviewed Larkin and he said that talks are going well, So i'm not worried that a deal won't get done sometime soon.

They'd definitely consider trading that pick before trading Sillinger.

They shouldn't trade either, I like Larkin but giving up these assets for Larkin should be a no go for Cbus.

"Would easily give Larkin 8 x 9,500,000". Not a chance. Makar and Kaprizov signed for 9 million and Larkin is nowhere near as good as those guys. We are becoming the Maple Leafs if Yzerman is overpaying that much.

Gavrikov is our second best defenseman, and the pick is super valuable right now. Sillinger for Larkin straight up is even a stretch (and couldn't happen given the CBJ cap situation).

Maybe something along the lines of:
- 2023 1st (top 5 protected)
- Jack Roslovic
- a good prospect (a Voronkov or Svozil type)

Detroit would get a highly-coveted 2023 pick (even with the protection), a good prospect, and a good young roster player.

Roslovic's inclusion would make the cap work for CBJ, who in turn gets a long-term upgrade at 1C.

I find it kind of laughable that you're using a RHD in Makar and a forward in Kaprizov as comparables for Larkin. I got news for you. I don't care if Makar is only making $9,000,000 per as Seider is going to get paid at least $9,500,000 to $10,000,000 per x 8 on his next deal next summer. And he's not anywhere close to Makar but he'll get paid like Stutzle and others just based on his future potential.

Yzerman isn't dealing Larkin as a one year rental, He will sign him long term if moved to Columbus so the cost is going to be extreme.

Jack Roslovic is nothing short of a 3C in Detroit. If we lose Larkin it would be Marco Kasper 1C and Andrew Copp 2C and Jack Roslovic 3C. So your prospects would need to be blue chip on top of things. For Larkin this is a pretty poor offer. No way does Yzerman deal Larkin to Columbus without at least one of Kent Johnson or Cole Sillinger going back the other way.

Cool, then we're in agreement there is no deal to be made. Have a great day.

No because Larkin isn't available, We still have 9 1/2 months to get him signed before he becomes a UFA. That's plenty of time.

70 point guys should not be paid as much as 100 + point guys. That's just my opinion.

You said players are getting paid based on their futures, thats true.
Let me ask this: Do you think Huhges, Stuzle, Norris, Thomas, Kyrou, Heiskanen...etc are all gonna have worse futures than Larkin? All of them have got paid recently and you could say some of them are even better than Larkin. But why does Larkin get much more than all of them?

You do realize that all of these players are much younger than Larkin, And most are getting big money coming out of their ELCs. This is Larkins 3rd contract. His ELC and then his 5 x $6.1 million deal. So yeah Larkin is going to get a big payday. Only thing is it with Detroit or another team. That remains to be seen.
