Habs don't have cap space for Barrie (Byron is on LTIR).
Barrie for one of Hoffman/Armia or no Barrie trade with habs

So let's break some of that down.

Barrie to MTL for Byron (LTIR)

THEN

Byron to ARI with an additional '25 3rd rounder for a '25 5th rounder

SO

Essentially you're trading Barrie and a 2025 3rd round pick for a singular 5th round pick in 2025.

I'm not an expert but that's worse than absolute trash value.

Not to mention that proposal doesn't work with MTLs current cap situation.

This is the key. If its not for Hoffman or Armia, a Barrie trade makes no sense for Montreal.
